Overview
This unit provides you with the opportunity to further develop the professional skills that support safe and effective flight operations. Through a focus on leadership, ethical conduct, cultural competency, and interpersonal communication, you will gain a deeper understanding of how these attributes contribute to effective teamwork and decision-making. The unit will also explore the integration of technical knowledge and professional skills within effective Crew Resource Management (CRM), emphasising sound decision-making and effective teamwork. As part of this unit, you will reflect on your development as a pilot, identifying personal strengths, limitations, and areas for growth to support your career development as a capable, reflective professional pilot. You will also prepare a roadmap for your career in aviation, including preparation to enter the industry.

Pre-requisites or Co-requisites
Prerequisites - AVAT13028, completion of 96CP.
Important note: Students enrolled in a subsequent unit who failed their pre-requisite unit, should drop the subsequent unit before the census date or within 10 working days of Fail grade notification. Students who do not drop the unit in this timeframe cannot later drop the unit without academic and financial liability. Attendance Requirements
All on-campus students are expected to attend scheduled classes - in some units, these classes are identified as a mandatory (pass/fail) component and attendance is compulsory. International students, on a student visa, must maintain a full time study load and meet both attendance and academic progress requirements in each study period (satisfactory attendance for International students is defined as maintaining at least an 80% attendance record).
Recommended Student Time Commitment
Each 12-credit Undergraduate unit at CQUniversity requires an overall time commitment of an average of 25 hours of study per week, making a total of 300 hours for the unit.

Assessment Grading
This is a graded unit: your overall grade will be calculated from the marks or grades for each assessment task, based on the relative weightings shown in the table above. You must obtain an overall mark for the unit of at least 50%, or an overall grade of 'pass' in order to pass the unit. If any 'pass/fail' tasks are shown in the table above they must also be completed successfully ('pass' grade). You must also meet any minimum mark requirements specified for a particular assessment task, as detailed in the 'assessment task' section (note that in some instances, the minimum mark for a task may be greater than 50%). Consult the University's Grades and Results Policy for more details of interim results and final grades.

This is a new unit that has been designed through consultation with experienced airline pilots, flight instructors, academics, and the Bachelor of Aviation Course Reference Committee. Student feedback also played an important role in the development of the unit and would be valued at the end of the term to inform the next delivery.
1 Online discussion forum
Following most of the workshops in the unit, students will review a related case study and participate in an online forum. This includes making an initial post responding to the forum prompt. Later, students will post a response to another student in the forum with a reflection about their post.
Initial Posts are due within one week of the workshop, and students will have an additional week to post their response.

Posts will be rated based on:
- How thoroughly they address the prompt
- The quality of insights/reflections
- Adherence to word limits as specified in each forum

2 Case Study
Students will develop a plan that identifies their career goals and outlines pathways to achieving them. It also identifies relevant skills and experience necessary for career progression as well as alternative pathways to accommodate changes to circumstances.

Career plans will be evaluated according to how thoroughly they reflect an understanding of available career pathways in the aviation system, how clearly they allow for actionable professional development and growth, and the level of detail included for each component.

3 Portfolio
For most workshops, students will review selected resources that introduce foundational concepts related to that topic and complete an activity in preparation of the workshop. Some examples of activities include self-assessments, engaging with interactive content, and collating information/resources relevant to their own interest.
Pre-workshop activities are designed to take approximately 1-2 hours, will open by the Monday of each week of the workshop, and must be submitted prior to the start of the workshop.

Pre-workshop activities are weighted equally, and are assessed based on how thoroughly they are completed. The relevant completion standard is outlined in the instructions for each activity.

Why is academic integrity important?
A breach of academic integrity may result in one or more penalties, including suspension or even expulsion from the University. It can also have negative implications for student visas and future enrolment at CQUniversity or elsewhere. Students who engage in contract cheating also risk being blackmailed by contract cheating services.
