Overview
Advanced Aeronautical Practice 2 provides you with the general handling and navigation training for the Command Instrument Rating. Your flight training will be conducted by an approved external flight training provider. You will accumulate the aeronautical experience required for the Multi Engine Endorsement and Multi Engine Command Instrument Rating, both in a simulator and a light aircraft. You will have the opportunity to identify meteorological conditions that require instrument navigation. You will also further develop your critical reflection and self analysis skills enabling you to improve your instrument flight rules and procedures operating skills. During this unit you will keep a reflective journal which will assist you to present a critical analysis of your experience at the end of the unit. After completing this unit you should meet the requirements for the issue of a Multi Engine Command Instrument Rating. You will be required to attend residence school on the Cairns Campus in order to satisfy part of the assessment.

Pre-requisites or Co-requisites
Prerequisite: AVAT20005 Advanced Aeronautical Practice 1
Important note: Students enrolled in a subsequent unit who failed their pre-requisite unit, should drop the subsequent unit before the census date or within 10 working days of Fail grade notification. Students who do not drop the unit in this timeframe cannot later drop the unit without academic and financial liability. Attendance Requirements
All on-campus students are expected to attend scheduled classes – in some units, these classes are identified as a mandatory (pass/fail) component and attendance is compulsory. International students, on a student visa, must maintain a full time study load and meet both attendance and academic progress requirements in each study period (satisfactory attendance for International students is defined as maintaining at least an 80% attendance record).

Recommended Student Time Commitment
Each 12-credit Postgraduate unit at CQUniversity requires an overall time commitment of an average of 25 hours of study per week, making a total of 300 hours for the unit.

1 Practical Assessment
You will perform a flight test on a multi engine aeroplane in simulated Instrument Meteorological Conditions.

2 Presentation
You will deliver a presentation on the educational aspects of a particular flight training exercise. In the presentation you will describe and explain the educational processes and procedures you experienced during the flight training exercise. You should explain how, why and what you learned during the flight exercise. Also describe how this improved your learning.
This assessment also involves a paper on the critical analysis and reflection of one of your flight lessons in the unit. The paper and PowerPoint presentation will need to be uploaded through turn it in on the Moodle site.

The assessment criteria will be in the form of a marking rubric for the presentation and a template and assessment criteria for the paper. These will be available on the Moodle site.
