General Information

Overview

Advanced Aeronautical Practice 2 provides you with the general handling and navigation training for the Command Instrument Rating. Your flight training will be conducted by an approved external flight training provider. You will accumulate the aeronautical experience required for the Multi Engine Endorsement and Multi Engine Command Instrument Rating, both in a simulator and a light aircraft. You will have the opportunity to identify meteorological conditions that require instrument navigation. You will also further develop your critical reflection and self analysis skills enabling you to improve your instrument flight rules and procedures operating skills. During this unit you will keep a reflective journal which will assist you to present a critical analysis of your experience at the end of the unit. After completing this unit you should meet the requirements for the issue of a Multi Engine Command Instrument Rating. You will be required to attend residence school on the Cairns Campus in order to satisfy part of the assessment.

Prerequisite: AVAT20005 Advanced Aeronautical Practice 1

Important note: Students enrolled in a subsequent unit who failed their pre-requisite unit, should drop the subsequent unit before the census date or within 10 working days of Fail grade notification. Students who do not drop the unit in this timeframe cannot later drop the unit without academic and financial liability. Attendance Requirements

All on-campus students are expected to attend scheduled classes – in some units, these classes are identified as a mandatory (pass/fail) component and attendance is compulsory. International students, on a student visa, must maintain a full time study load and meet both attendance and academic progress requirements in each study period (satisfactory attendance for International students is defined as maintaining at least an 80% attendance record).
