General Information

Overview

Advanced Flight Practice 1 will further develop your navigation and general handling skills necessary for commercial operations. Your flight training will be conducted by an approved external flight training provider. As you advance through the unit, you will conduct long-distance flights visiting multiple aerodromes in regional and outback Australia. This will help to develop your self-management and self-discipline skills as well as giving you the opportunity to synthesise your practice with the theory you learnt in earlier units. Prior to each departure, you will prepare a sophisticated flight plan for an extended remote area multi-destination commercial flight exercise. Your critical reflection and self-analysis skills will be honed, assisting you to operate effectively in commercial aviation in remote areas. Throughout this unit, you will keep a reflective journal which will enable you to present a critical analysis of your experience at the end of the unit. On completing this unit, you will have accumulated 50 hours in command cross-country flight time. This is a requirement to apply for a Multi Engine Command Instrument Rating. You will practice your communication, analytic and presentation skills as you review your flight training.
