Overview
In this unit, you will learn to visually communicate a design project. You will first gain an understanding of how to visualise objects and draw them to scale freehand. You will then be introduced to a range of drafting software, including AutoCAD and REVIT/BIM. Focussing on software that is appropriate to your chosen discipline, you will learn to apply drafting software to demonstrate appropriate use of scale and proportion as you create technical 2D and 3D drawings of complex objects/buildings as appropriate for your chosen discipline.

There are no requisites for this unit.
Important note: Students enrolled in a subsequent unit who failed their pre-requisite unit, should drop the subsequent unit before the census date or within 10 working days of Fail grade notification. Students who do not drop the unit in this timeframe cannot later drop the unit without academic and financial liability. Attendance Requirements
All on-campus students are expected to attend scheduled classes - in some units, these classes are identified as a mandatory (pass/fail) component and attendance is compulsory. International students, on a student visa, must maintain a full time study load and meet both attendance and academic progress requirements in each study period (satisfactory attendance for International students is defined as maintaining at least an 80% attendance record).

To improve learning materials
Useful Learning Materials received 66.67%, and video resources were identified as an area for improvement. Additional step-by-step video demonstrations and practical Revit/BIM resources should be considered to help students revisit technical processes independently.

To strengthen assessment and learning alignment and improve clarity of requirements
Learnt from assessments: 66.67%. The relationship among weekly learning activities, unit learning outcomes, and portfolio requirements should be clarified through assessment guidance and preparation activities. Further, assessment briefs, instructions and supporting materials should be reviewed to ensure requirements are clear and consistent. Examples, annotated exemplars and short instructional videos should be considered where appropriate.

To improve student feedback and SUTE participation
The SUTE response rate was 20.69%, with only 6 of 29 students responding. Student feedback should be actively encouraged to support continuous improvement of the unit. The UC and Lecturer should encourage students to complete the Unit and Teaching Evaluations following communication from the Tertiary Education Division and implement the additional strategies recommended by the Division to improve participation.

To support students at risk of unsuccessful completion
The F and WF outcomes indicate that early identification of students experiencing difficulties should be strengthened. Students at risk should be encouraged to seek timely academic support, particularly regarding Revit/BIM skills, assessment progression, and completion requirements.
