Overview
In this unit, you will learn by combining workplace opportunities and a guided research methodology to produce a folio of logged experience, critical reflection and local and international project analyses to grow your intellectual capital. You will use the university’s graduate attributes to evaluate and report your professional interpersonal strengths and weaknesses using various modes of communication. Students who have successfully completed BLCN14036 or BLSV14014 should not enrol in this unit.

Pre-requisites or Co-requisites
Pre-requisite Condition: Successfully completed 108 units of credits in the Building Surveying (Honours) or Construction Management (Honours) course.
Important note: Students enrolled in a subsequent unit who failed their pre-requisite unit, should drop the subsequent unit before the census date or within 10 working days of Fail grade notification. Students who do not drop the unit in this timeframe cannot later drop the unit without academic and financial liability. See details in the Assessment Policy and Procedure (Higher Education Coursework).

Attendance Requirements
All on-campus students are expected to attend scheduled classes – in some units, these classes are identified as a mandatory (pass/fail) component and attendance is compulsory. International students, on a student visa, must maintain a full time study load and meet both attendance and academic progress requirements in each study period (satisfactory attendance for International students is defined as maintaining at least an 80% attendance record).
Recommended Student Time Commitment
Each 6-credit Undergraduate unit at CQUniversity requires an overall time commitment of an average of 12.5 hours of study per week, making a total of 150 hours for the unit.

Assessment Grading
This is a graded unit: your overall grade will be calculated from the marks or grades for each assessment task, based on the relative weightings shown in the table above. You must obtain an overall mark for the unit of at least 50%, or an overall grade of 'pass' in order to pass the unit. If any 'pass/fail' tasks are shown in the table above they must also be completed successfully ('pass' grade). You must also meet any minimum mark requirements specified for a particular assessment task, as detailed in the 'assessment task' section (note that in some instances, the minimum mark for a task may be greater than 50%). Consult the University's Grades and Results Policy for more details of interim results and final grades.

1 Portfolio
This assessment will require you to research and respond to 3 tasks that explore building industry engagement, regulatory and procuring processes and issues.
The portfolio will require you to research, document and critically evaluate information for the following tasks:
1. Verification of pre-term professional practice as related to Industry accreditation requirements
2. Summarising and describing relevant industry activities within the context of a reflective model that demonstrates professional learning
3. Developing a project report for a selected issue confronting the building industry (stage 1).
Week 4 Friday (4 Aug 2023) 11:45 pm AEST
It is recommended that your submissions in Moodle remain in draft form until you have viewed the Turnitin similarity report and made any necessary corrections to your referencing. Following this process you can make your final submission.
Week 6 Friday (25 Aug 2023)
Within two weeks of submission
Your assessment should be produced in a word format as a professional report.
Before or on the nominated due date, upload your work following the on-screen instructions.
Your submission will be processed through the similarity detection software, Turnitin. You may amend your work based on the detection report.
You must ensure that the work is your own and that any cited work has been correctly referenced as per the CQU requirements.
The assessment will address the following attributes:

2 Portfolio
This second Assessment will require you to research and respond to 2 tasks that explore building industry engagement, regulatory and procuring processes and issues.
The portfolio will require you to investigate and evaluate relevant information related to:
1. Identifying and recording a specific industry-based activity within the context of a reflective model that demonstrates professional learning
2. Continue the development of a project report for a selected issue confronting the building industry (stage 2).
Week 8 Friday (8 Sept 2023) 11:45 pm AEST

The portfolio will require you to research, document and critically evaluate information for the following tasks:
1.Verification of relevant professional practice carried out during the term as related to industry accreditation requirements
2. Completion of a reflective journal that demonstrates the application of relevant CQU graduate attributes
3. Complete a project report for a selected issue confronting the building industry (stage 3).
Week 12 Friday (6 Oct 2023) 11:45 pm AEST
It is recommended that your submissions in Moodle remain in draft form until you have viewed the Turnitin similarity report and made any necessary corrections to your referencing. Following this process you can make your final submission.
Exam Week Friday (20 Oct 2023)
Within two weeks of submission but prior to the grade certification.
Your assessment should be produced in word format as a professional report and PowerPoint presentation before or on the nominated due date,

A breach of academic integrity may result in one or more penalties, including suspension or even expulsion from the University. It can also have negative implications for student visas and future enrolment at CQUniversity or elsewhere.
