Overview
In Construction Contract Administration you will be introduced to the principles of law, contract administration, and dispute resolution in the construction industry. In this unit, you will investigate a range of issues and claims arising in the construction process. In particular, you will develop an understanding of certain general conditions and legal concepts relevant to contracts such as unjust enrichment, frustration, waiver, estoppel, and specific performance. You will also gain knowledge of alternative dispute resolution methods and become familiar with the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act.

Pre-requisites or Co-requisites
There are no requisites for this unit.
Important note: Students enrolled in a subsequent unit who failed their pre-requisite unit, should drop the subsequent unit before the census date or within 10 working days of Fail grade notification. Students who do not drop the unit in this timeframe cannot later drop the unit without academic and financial liability. Attendance Requirements
All on-campus students are expected to attend scheduled classes - in some units, these classes are identified as a mandatory (pass/fail) component and attendance is compulsory. International students, on a student visa, must maintain a full time study load and meet both attendance and academic progress requirements in each study period (satisfactory attendance for International students is defined as maintaining at least an 80% attendance record).

We will explore the option of inviting a guest lecturer with relevant industry experience to provide insights and practical knowledge on a selected topic. We will coordinate with the guest lecturer to ensure their presentation aligns with the unit's learning objectives. This will enhance students' learning by providing real-world insights, networking opportunities, and practical knowledge relevant to their future careers.
