Overview

The landscape of business, industry, and professional sectors is swiftly evolving, with emerging trends highlighting the essential capabilities needed for graduate roles. This swift evolution demands that graduates possess the requisite skills, knowledge, and attributes to meet employers' evolving needs. This unit is designed to arm students with the employability skills necessary for work readiness and career planning. It involves engaging in self-awareness activities and exploring what employers expect from graduates in their field. Students will learn to craft professional job applications, hone their interview techniques, and create a personal portfolio to further their career goals. They will also practice using web-based technology intelligently to search for and secure professional employment. Additionally, the unit covers the fundamental requirements, ethical obligations, and mutual expectations of employees and employers.

Pre-requisites or Co-requisites

Students must successfully complete BUSN12001 Business Internship prior to commencing this unit.

Important note: Students enrolled in a subsequent unit who failed their pre-requisite unit, should drop the subsequent unit before the census date or within 10 working days of Fail grade notification. Students who do not drop the unit in this timeframe cannot later drop the unit without academic and financial liability. Attendance Requirements

All on-campus students are expected to attend scheduled classes - in some units, these classes are identified as a mandatory (pass/fail) component and attendance is compulsory. International students, on a student visa, must maintain a full time study load and meet both attendance and academic progress requirements in each study period (satisfactory attendance for International students is defined as maintaining at least an 80% attendance record).
