Overview
This unit builds on the anatomy taught in Human Body Systems 1 and 2, as well as Neuromusculoskeletal Anatomy 1. You will further develop your knowledge of anatomy and physiology, which will include studies in gross anatomy, embryology and histology, clinical and living anatomy. You will integrate this, where appropriate, with other basic sciences. The focus for this unit is neuroanatomy and the anatomy of the head and neck region.

Pre-requisites or Co-requisites
Prerequisites BMSC11001 Human Body Systems 1 and BMSC11002 Human Body Systems 2
Important note: Students enrolled in a subsequent unit who failed their pre-requisite unit, should drop the subsequent unit before the census date or within 10 working days of Fail grade notification. Students who do not drop the unit in this timeframe cannot later drop the unit without academic and financial liability. Attendance Requirements
All on-campus students are expected to attend scheduled classes – in some units, these classes are identified as a mandatory (pass/fail) component and attendance is compulsory. International students, on a student visa, must maintain a full time study load and meet both attendance and academic progress requirements in each study period (satisfactory attendance for International students is defined as maintaining at least an 80% attendance record).
Recommended Student Time Commitment
Each 6-credit Undergraduate unit at CQUniversity requires an overall time commitment of an average of 12.5 hours of study per week, making a total of 150 hours for the unit.

Assessment Grading
This is a graded unit: your overall grade will be calculated from the marks or grades for each assessment task, based on the relative weightings shown in the table above. You must obtain an overall mark for the unit of at least 50%, or an overall grade of ‘pass’ in order to pass the unit. If any ‘pass/fail’ tasks are shown in the table above they must also be completed successfully (‘pass’ grade). You must also meet any minimum mark requirements specified for a particular assessment task, as detailed in the ‘assessment task’ section (note that in some instances, the minimum mark for a task may be greater than 50%). Consult the University’s Grades and Results Policy for more details of interim results and final grades.

Desire to participate in wet labs and possibly dissections.
This was a very strong recommendation within the student evaluation commentary. The unit coordinator will see what can be done in relation to Wet labs and dissections.

The unit coordinator will continue to seek University budget and support for more anatomical models. This will enhance the practical exams. Lectures are revised and updated on an ongoing bases.

A recommendation was suggested, to speed up lecture videos so they can speed watch when needed.
The unit coordinator will review the platform in which lectures are recorded and see if a recording that can be viewed at an accelerated pace is possible.

1 Online Quiz(zes)
There will be three online quizzes administered via Moodle. Each will be available for approximately 1 week. There will be no extension due to unforeseen technical problems or Internet connectivity, so please do not leave it to to the end of the time period to do it. Each online quiz will be based on the material covered in lectures, tutorials and practical classes in the weeks as outlined below. Students will be allowed one attempt only for each online quiz, which must be completed within the allotted time.
- Online Quiz 1 (opens - start of Week 4) covers osteology, arthrology, myology, meninges and vascular features of the head and neck (i.e. material from Weeks 1-3) and is worth 5%
- Online Quiz 2 (opens - start of Week 8) covers nervous system and innervation of the head and neck (i.e. material from Weeks 4-7) and is worth 5%
- Online Quiz 3 (opens - start of Week 10) covers the remainder of the unit content (material from Weeks 8-10) and is worth 5%

Online quiz 1 is due by August 11th, 11:59pm; Quiz 2 by 15th September, 11:59pm and Quiz 3 by 29th September, 11:59pm
Results for each online quiz will be released immediately after their respective due dates.
As each question in the quizzes are objective in style (e.g. multiple choice or correct answer), answers will be automatically marked as either correct or incorrect or graded post assesment. Some questions will require you to demonstrate a knowledge of facts, while others will require the use of interpretive or analytical skills.

2 Practical Assessment
This will be based on the material covered in lectures, practical classes and assigned homework (see Workbook) from Weeks 1-11. Students will be required to identify anatomical structures on pictures of models and anatomical images, and answer brief theoretical questions regarding the identified anatomical structures. This Practical Assessment will be available for completion, online. A time and day in Week 12 (a time and day that may differ from your regular Anatomy Practical day and time).
The online assessment will take approximately one hour.
Students will rotate through a number of stations.

After the examination period. Raw grades may be released for a short period prior to the final overall grade for the unit.
Marks will be allocated based on:
1. Accuracy of the answer
2. Specificity of the answer
3. Spelling accuracy (within reason):
Either Australian, UK or USA spelling will be acceptable. If spelling is not completely correct, but is phonetically correct, you will receive 75% of the allocated mark for that question.

Examination
