Overview
Knowledge management is being reshaped by artificial intelligence, enterprise platforms, digital collaboration tools and data-informed decision-making. This unit examines how organisations identify, capture, structure, share, and govern knowledge in contemporary business environments. You will develop high-level capabilities in knowledge audits, knowledge mapping, knowledge asset identification, knowledge flow analysis and knowledge management practices. The unit examines how knowledge management supports business analysis, enterprise systems, organisational learning, decision-making quality and operational improvement. You will evaluate contemporary knowledge management systems and processes, including enterprise knowledge platforms, knowledge bases, collaboration tools and AI-supported knowledge practices. The unit also considers ethical, professional, privacy, security and accountability issues associated with organisational knowledge work. Through applied assessment tasks, you will analyse an organisational knowledge problem, evaluate suitable tools and techniques, and develop a knowledge management plan that supports organisational needs and responsible AI-enabled practice.

Pre-requisites or Co-requisites
Pre-Requisites: COIT20250 e-Business Systems and COIT20249 Professional Skills in ICT. Anti-Requisites: If you have completed COIT20238 or COIS20077, then you cannot take this unit.
Important note: Students enrolled in a subsequent unit who failed their pre-requisite unit, should drop the subsequent unit before the census date or within 10 working days of Fail grade notification. Students who do not drop the unit in this timeframe cannot later drop the unit without academic and financial liability. Attendance Requirements
All on-campus students are expected to attend scheduled classes - in some units, these classes are identified as a mandatory (pass/fail) component and attendance is compulsory. International students, on a student visa, must maintain a full time study load and meet both attendance and academic progress requirements in each study period (satisfactory attendance for International students is defined as maintaining at least an 80% attendance record).

There was limited integration of practical tools in the tutorials aligned with the weekly content.
Introduce relevant tools and practical tasks in weekly tutorials from the start of term, supported by resources that help students apply them independently and connect learning to real practice.
