Overview
This unit critically examines the governance and managerial aspects of cybersecurity in a business organisation. Building on existing knowledge of information and communication technologies, you will critically explore governance and management issues relevant to cybersecurity in organisational contexts. Through the analysis of real-world case studies, you will develop cybersecurity risk management strategies to support business objectives while considering legal and ethical obligations. As a result, you will gain the knowledge and professional capabilities to contribute effectively to cybersecurity governance and management in accordance with standards set by governments, professional bodies, and industry.

Pre-requisites or Co-requisites
Prerequisite: COIT20261 Network Services and Automation. Co-requisite: COIT20262 Advanced Network Security.
Important note: Students enrolled in a subsequent unit who failed their pre-requisite unit, should drop the subsequent unit before the census date or within 10 working days of Fail grade notification. Students who do not drop the unit in this timeframe cannot later drop the unit without academic and financial liability. Attendance Requirements
All on-campus students are expected to attend scheduled classes - in some units, these classes are identified as a mandatory (pass/fail) component and attendance is compulsory. International students, on a student visa, must maintain a full time study load and meet both attendance and academic progress requirements in each study period (satisfactory attendance for International students is defined as maintaining at least an 80% attendance record).

The current content does not clearly emphasise awareness, culture, and human factors in information security.
Incorporate a dedicated lecture topic that focuses on fostering a strong security culture and promoting human-centred approaches to security.
Feedback from Teaching team's reflection
Expand the lecture content and tutorials to cover emerging technologies such as privacy-enhancing technologies and threat intelligence practices.
While advanced concepts, such as the Zero Trust model, are included, there remains scope to integrate more emerging topics and case studies.
