Overview
In this unit, students will learn how editors shape raw footage into stories that connect with audiences on a range of platforms, and how media is managed safely from the camera card to final delivery. Students will work through the full post-production workflow from data wrangling to delivery using industry standard editing software. The unit introduces students to the principles of continuity, rhythm, pacing and montage by editing a montage, a documentary scene and a scripted scene. Advanced technical exercises allow students to pursue specialisations in post-production techniques including, but not limited to, multi-cam editing, colour grading, and compositing. These skills will be integrated into a professional showreel. Throughout the unit, students will learn to work ethically and professionally, responding to copyright, consent, First Nations cultural protocols, accessibility and the transparent use of AI tools, and to reflect on their practice as an emerging screen professional.

Feedback, Recommendations and Responses
Every unit is reviewed for enhancement each year. At the most recent review, the following staff and student feedback items were identified and recommendations were made.
Feedback from Unit Coordinator
This year has seen an increase in the number of students using DaVinci Resolve. Da Vinci Resolve is increasingly being used in industry, so it is useful for students to have familiarity with both systems.
New resources are to be generated to be available alongside Adobe Premiere Pro.
