This unit provides the technical skills and theoretical knowledge required to participate in a turnaround event. It focuses on detailed systematic approach to turnaround management.

Pre-requisites or Co-requisites
Prerequisites: ENMM20023 and ENMM20025
Important note: Students enrolled in a subsequent unit who failed their pre-requisite unit, should drop the subsequent unit before the census date or within 10 working days of Fail grade notification. Students who do not drop the unit in this timeframe cannot later drop the unit without academic and financial liability. Attendance Requirements
All on-campus students are expected to attend scheduled classes – in some units, these classes are identified as a mandatory (pass/fail) component and attendance is compulsory. International students, on a student visa, must maintain a full time study load and meet both attendance and academic progress requirements in each study period (satisfactory attendance for International students is defined as maintaining at least an 80% attendance record).
Recommended Student Time Commitment
Each 6-credit Postgraduate unit at CQUniversity requires an overall time commitment of an average of 12.5 hours of study per week, making a total of 150 hours for the unit.

Assessment Grading
This is a graded unit: your overall grade will be calculated from the marks or grades for each assessment task, based on the relative weightings shown in the table above. You must obtain an overall mark for the unit of at least 50%, or an overall grade of ‘pass’ in order to pass the unit. If any ‘pass/fail’ tasks are shown in the table above they must also be completed successfully (‘pass’ grade). You must also meet any minimum mark requirements specified for a particular assessment task, as detailed in the ‘assessment task’ section (note that in some instances, the minimum mark for a task may be greater than 50%). Consult the University’s Grades and Results Policy for more details of interim results and final grades.

1 Online Test
The objective of online open book test will be to assess your basic understanding of turnaround maintenance. The test questions will be available just before the test date via moodle web page of this course.

It is expected that marked assessment will be returned within 2 weeks of the due date when submitted on time

2 Written Assessment
The objective of this assessment is to give you an opportunity to apply the theory you have learnt in your workplace. Consequently, you will be required to gather some workplace data. If there are confidentiality concerns regarding this information, it is permissible to modify the data provided it is still consistent.
The assignment questions will be uploaded on the course moodle website before the start of term.

This is a criterion-based assessment item. Please note that it is highly recommended that you read beyond the course materials to complete assessment items. Your submission for this assessment will be evaluated by the following criteria:

- Clarity of expression, including use of terminology, ease of reading, spelling and grammar, orderly and logical presentation and use of diagrams to illustrate points.
- Quality of technical presentation including neatness, appropriate use of figures and tables and references.

3 Presentation and Written Assessment
The assignment will be uploaded on the moodle web page of this course prior to start of the term.
- The mini-project is an in-depth study of how Turnarounds are carried out within your own organization. It demonstrates how the course content can be of practical use in evaluating the effectiveness of actual Turnarounds and act as an aid for preparing a report for improvement.
-Some of the required information may be difficult to obtain due to its confidential nature. If this is the case the information can be changed by a factor to maintain relevance yet provide the confidentiality required or information may also need to be obtained through interviews or estimations.
- You will need to develop a persuasive case for your improvement plan. The report should be of a standard that it could be submitted to your company’s Senior Management and convince them of how the shutdown could be improved, including assessment of the benefit to the company. The report's success will also be judged on how convincing you put the case for your improvement plan.
