Overview
This unit builds on MEDS21003 Nutrition and Dietetics Research Project 1 and provides Pathway to Doctorate students with the opportunity to implement and complete an independent research project in nutrition, dietetics, and health. Students will complete their data collection started during CL88 placements in accordance with approved research protocols and apply appropriate qualitative and/or quantitative analytical methods. The unit emphasises critical evaluation of findings in relation to existing literature, and consideration of the practical, clinical, and cultural implications of research outcomes. The unit culminates in the preparation of a first-author manuscript suitable for peer-reviewed journal submission and a professional academic presentation of research findings. This unit supports progression to research-informed professional practice and preparation for higher degree research.

Pre-requisites or Co-requisites
Pre-Requisites: MEDS21003 and NUTR29006
Important note: Students enrolled in a subsequent unit who failed their pre-requisite unit, should drop the subsequent unit before the census date or within 10 working days of Fail grade notification. Students who do not drop the unit in this timeframe cannot later drop the unit without academic and financial liability. Attendance Requirements
All on-campus students are expected to attend scheduled classes - in some units, these classes are identified as a mandatory (pass/fail) component and attendance is compulsory. International students, on a student visa, must maintain a full time study load and meet both attendance and academic progress requirements in each study period (satisfactory attendance for International students is defined as maintaining at least an 80% attendance record).
