Overview
Public Health Project Work 2 is the third of a suite of four units designed to allow you to undertake a work-related or research project over the course of two terms. This suite of units provides you with the opportunity to demonstrate the skills and knowledge you have gained throughout the six core public health units and to apply these to a specific project. The project may be related to a public health intervention, evaluation or research topic. This unit will allow you to undertake the relevant work associated with data collection and analysis, reflexivity and management of a project.

Important note: Students enrolled in a subsequent unit who failed their pre-requisite unit, should drop the subsequent unit before the census date or within 10 working days of Fail grade notification. Students who do not drop the unit in this timeframe cannot later drop the unit without academic and financial liability. Attendance Requirements
All on-campus students are expected to attend scheduled classes – in some units, these classes are identified as a mandatory (pass/fail) component and attendance is compulsory. International students, on a student visa, must maintain a full time study load and meet both attendance and academic progress requirements in each study period (satisfactory attendance for International students is defined as maintaining at least an 80% attendance record).
Recommended Student Time Commitment
Each 12-credit Postgraduate unit at CQUniversity requires an overall time commitment of an average of 25 hours of study per week, making a total of 300 hours for the unit.

Feedback from Unit Coordinator's observations
Students often view the reserahc process as somewhat mechanical and do not reflect on their own learning and interests that may be supported by the research experience.
The online discussion activity be structured to encourage reflection and focus more clearly on the personal,intangible aspects of the research experience.

1 Online discussion forum
This is an individual assessment. From Week 2 - Week 7 of the term you are required to actively and respectively participate in the online discussion weekly. The Unit Coordinator will post a case study and/or relevant research topics and will monitor your participation and contributions. Each week you will upload your responses to the questions posed via the Moodle Discussion forum.
This is a Pass/Fail assessment based on your activity in the forum. This assessment forms 50% of your overall grade. You must complete this assessment as described to pass the unit.

2 Project (applied)
This is a Pass/Fail assessment that clearly outlines the progress of your entire project. You must complete the report on the Progress Report template provided and submit it via Moodle. You are advised to discuss this report with your supervisor BEFORE submitting it. Although you are working in a group you must specify the area that you took the main lead (e.g. literature review, methodology, etc).
Your progress report will demonstrate the following:
Research progress is clearly outlined. Any problems/delays encountered are reasonably explained;
How the project clearly aligns to the social- ecological model of health;
The processes used to ensure and maintain research integrity are identified and adhered to;
Processes used to build and ensure effective relationships with the research team and participants are adhered to throughout the project.
Word Length: 2000- 2500 words (excluding references).

You must use the Progress Report template and submit it through Moodle. The Progress Report must clearly show which aspects of your project were undertaken as a group as well as what your individual contribution was. You must complete this assessment as described in order to pass the unit.

What is a breach of academic integrity?

Why is academic integrity important?
A breach of academic integrity may result in one or more penalties, including suspension or even expulsion from the University. It can also have negative implications for student visas and future enrolment at CQUniversity or elsewhere. Students who engage in contract cheating also risk being blackmailed by contract cheating services.
