Overview
The unit aims to develop a consistent ability to integrate the knowledge, physical skills, principles of evidence based practice and clinical reasoning, ethical and professional behaviours that are necessary to function competently as a physiotherapist. This will include a variety of settings and patient groups, with an emphasis on effective and patient-centred management plans, within a framework of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF).

Important note: Students enrolled in a subsequent unit who failed their pre-requisite unit, should drop the subsequent unit before the census date or within 10 working days of Fail grade notification. Students who do not drop the unit in this timeframe cannot later drop the unit without academic and financial liability. Attendance Requirements
All on-campus students are expected to attend scheduled classes – in some units, these classes are identified as a mandatory (pass/fail) component and attendance is compulsory. International students, on a student visa, must maintain a full time study load and meet both attendance and academic progress requirements in each study period (satisfactory attendance for International students is defined as maintaining at least an 80% attendance record).
Recommended Student Time Commitment
Each 12-credit Undergraduate unit at CQUniversity requires an overall time commitment of an average of 25 hours of study per week, making a total of 300 hours for the unit.

Assessment Grading
This is a graded unit: your overall grade will be calculated from the marks or grades for each assessment task, based on the relative weightings shown in the table above. You must obtain an overall mark for the unit of at least 50%, or an overall grade of ‘pass’ in order to pass the unit. If any ‘pass/fail’ tasks are shown in the table above they must also be completed successfully (‘pass’ grade). You must also meet any minimum mark requirements specified for a particular assessment task, as detailed in the ‘assessment task’ section (note that in some instances, the minimum mark for a task may be greater than 50%). Consult the University’s Grades and Results Policy for more details of interim results and final grades.

Students fed back that they would like some further explanation on the written assessment, particularly around the specifics of what to include in the Statements section.

Clinical Placements run throughout the year from late January to early December and some may occur outside of term times. You may be required to travel outside of your home town to complete clinical placements. Placements are allocated by the Physiotherapy Clinical Educator Coordinator in accordance with requirements set by the Physiotherapy Board of Australia. You will be notified of your clinical placement allocation once you have met all pre-requisites for Professional Physiotherapy Practice 4.
1 Professional Practice Placement
You will complete a 5 week full-time clinical placement as allocated by the unit coordinator. This clinical placement can be in any area of physiotherapy and may be located in any facility ranging from acute hospitals to community programs.
The grade awarded is based on your performance during the 5 week clinical placement and evaluated using the Assessment of Physiotherapy Practice (APP) via the APPLink-up.
You are also required to submit the Hurdle assessment - Placement Evaluation survey via Moodle at the completion of your clinical placement to be eligible to pass this assessment item.
Week 12 Friday (5 Oct 2018) 11:45 pm AEST
At the completion of their clinical placement from your Clinical Educator.
In order to pass the Clinical Placement you need to meet the "Adequate" level on the Global Rating Score and achieve 40/80 on the APP, as graded by your Clinical Educator. A minimum grade of 50% is required to pass this assessment task and you must pass this assessment task in order to be eligible to pass the unit. If a grade of 50% is not achieved a minimum grade of 45% is required to be eligible to be offered a supplementary assessment. This will be decided between your clinical educator and unit coordinator. The Supplementary assessment will be in the form of a Clinical Exam, this is an OSCE type exam that will be completed on a real or simulated patient within the area that you completed the clinical placement.

2 Written Assessment
This written assessment gives you the opportunity to complete a New Graduate application for Queensland Health and submit your resume. Feedback will be given for you to consider prior to applying for any physiotherapy positions.
Description
You are required to submit a completed statement (maximum 2 pages) on how your experience, abilities and knowledge would enable you to achieve the key responsibilities and meet the key attributes of a Queensland Health New Graduate Physiotherapist. Refer to the job advert on Moodle for more details. You are also required to submit a 1 page Cover letter to accompany your application and your Resume/CV including referees.
