Previous Student Feedback

Feedback, Recommendations and Responses

Every unit is reviewed for enhancement each year. At the most recent review, the following staff and student feedback items were identified and recommendations were made.

Feedback from Student Unit and Teaching Evaluation feedback

Feedback

The textbook by Andy Field contains so much waffle that it was difficult to read in a timely manner. There are so many great textbooks out there that just give the facts, which is what I needed for this course.

Recommendation

In the current absence of other suitable options, the textbook will be retained and the benefits of this textbook will continue to be highlighted by the unit coordinator. The unit coordinator will continue to reduce reliance on the textbook, and note that it is one source of information along with lectures, tutorials and other material provided by the unit coordinator/lecturer.

Feedback from Student Unit and Teaching Evaluation feedback

Feedback

I would say that I do not enjoy the strategy utilised to ensure that not only have I completed the Prac, BUT Alex ensures that I get a SECOND attempt to ensure I have completed it correctly through the feedback. Well played Alex! WELL PLAYED. Do not change that as I can honestly say it is the BEST method of teaching.

Recommendation

This tongue-in-cheek feedback highlights the importance of the assessment and feedback structure, where students are provided with information on how to get to the correct answer, but not what the correct answer is. This is partly because there are multiple versions of the practical assessments for test security, meaning that many different correct answers would have to be given. But, it is also a crucial learning tool, and is appreciated by most students. Therefore this feedback approach will be maintained in future offerings of the unit.
