General Information

Overview

This unit provides you with the opportunity to consolidate and apply all of the knowledge, skills and attitudes developed during your learning journey in the course, particularly with regard to human factors, occupational health and hygiene, safety science, and risk management. The unit also develops theoretical and methodological knowledge to allow you to evaluate the evidence that will inform your professional practice. There is a specific emphasis on developing higher order skills and understanding which are representative of the holistic application of core skills that occurs when a professional understands the interaction between disciplinary domains in solving complex problems.

Prerequisites: N6638 Safety in Complexity and N6652 Safety Regulation and Management Co-requisite: SAFE20011 Exposures and Health Risk, SAFE20017 Human Factors in Complex Systems and N6672 Hazard Management and Risk Control

Important note: Students enrolled in a subsequent unit who failed their pre-requisite unit, should drop the subsequent unit before the census date or within 10 working days of Fail grade notification. Students who do not drop the unit in this timeframe cannot later drop the unit without academic and financial liability. Attendance Requirements

All on-campus students are expected to attend scheduled classes – in some units, these classes are identified as a mandatory (pass/fail) component and attendance is compulsory. International students, on a student visa, must maintain a full time study load and meet both attendance and academic progress requirements in each study period (satisfactory attendance for International students is defined as maintaining at least an 80% attendance record).

The volume of supporting resources and readings provided in revision materials for the Occupational Hygiene and Human Factors topics for use in the assessment tasks has been has been noted as excessive and unnecessary.

Recommendation

Additional resources that are not essential to the completion of specific assessment tasks will be identified as optional additional resource/readings, or will be removed from Moodle.
