Overview
This is the first of two research project units that are compulsory in the CG84 Bachelor of Sciences (Honours) Course. In this unit, you will commence an independent research project.

Pre-requisites or Co-requisites
Co-requisite: SCIH14001 Honours Preparation
Important note: Students enrolled in a subsequent unit who failed their pre-requisite unit, should drop the subsequent unit before the census date or within 10 working days of Fail grade notification. Students who do not drop the unit in this timeframe cannot later drop the unit without academic and financial liability. Attendance Requirements
All on-campus students are expected to attend scheduled classes – in some units, these classes are identified as a mandatory (pass/fail) component and attendance is compulsory. International students, on a student visa, must maintain a full time study load and meet both attendance and academic progress requirements in each study period (satisfactory attendance for International students is defined as maintaining at least an 80% attendance record).
Recommended Student Time Commitment
Each 12-credit Undergraduate unit at CQUniversity requires an overall time commitment of an average of 25 hours of study per week, making a total of 300 hours for the unit.

1 Written Assessment
You must submit an online project progress report through Moodle. The reporting tasks will be available on the Moodle site in weeks 2, 5 and 9. The progress reports will contain questions regarding the progress of the research project and identify any barriers to commencement or continuation of the project. Submission of progress reports will be due on: Friday of Week 2, Friday of Week 5, and Friday of Week 9.

Feedback on any issues will be addressed by direct contact with the student in the week following completion of the report.
This unit is non-graded (pass/fail only). Candidates will be expected to update their project progress through the progress report assessment tasks in Week 2, 5 and 9. Please be aware that a pass grade may only be achieved through the satisfactory and timely completion of the progress reports.

What is a breach of academic integrity?

Why is academic integrity important?
A breach of academic integrity may result in one or more penalties, including suspension or even expulsion from the University. It can also have negative implications for student visas and future enrolment at CQUniversity or elsewhere. Students who engage in contract cheating also risk being blackmailed by contract cheating services.
