All units will be offered during Term 3.  Students are encouraged to enrol full-time. Part-time studies will be possible for students wishing to study in a fractional load specifically during Term 3.

The Graduate Certificate of Clinical Ultrasound provides the opportunity for qualified healthcare professionals in general and emergency medicine, nursing and paramedic science to acquire knowledge and skills in the use of ultrasound as a focused diagnostic tool at the point of care. It will be of value to qualified health professionals engaged in managing emergency situations, assisting in bedside care, diagnosing cardiac pathology and guiding interventional procedures. You will develop knowledge of sonographic imaging with emphasis on interpretation of anatomical structures and ruling out  or identifying pathology to guide immediate patient care. You will learn transducer manipulation techniques and develop skills to obtain and optimise ultrasound imaging.  Additionally, you will combine your clinical knowledge and ultrasound findings to guide appropriate decision making according to the clinical situation, including the requirements for a sonographic assessment and  when to seek expert input as appropriate. Some units include residential schools to enable you to gain the skills of transducer manipulation, real-time ultrasound scanning techniques, sonographic imaging acquisition, optimization and image interpretation.
