Course Overview

The aim of the Graduate Certificate in Advanced Safety Science Practice is to provide students who have graduated with a Bachelor of OHS or Graduate Diploma of OHS an opportunity to further develop their safety science related knowledge, analysis and research skills in a way that will enable them to lead and manage specific complex safety environments. Students have an opportunity to choose an advanced specialisation to complement their previous studies including:

  • Transport safety management,
  • Risk engineering,
  • Human factors engineering, and
  • Emergency services safety.

Students will have the opportunity to gain crucial lifelong learning and transferable generic skills, such as critical thinking, and problem solving. They will be able to apply these skills to a range of employment opportunities and life situations to complement their disciplinary base.

Graduates of the CQU OHS courses are highly sought after by a range of industries including mining, manufacturing, maritime, aviation, defence, transport and logistics, health, consultancy and also government departments.
