Course Overview

Law Honours is a prestigious award recognising students who have achieved a high level of performance in their undergraduate law degree. This course comprises two dissertation units (designed to produce publishable journal articles), two advanced research units and two work integrated learning units. The two work integrated learning units act as capstones to the law landmarks (core undergraduate course themes). This enhanced training and experience is designed to signal to employers the calibre of graduates with an honours award.

As a law graduate you will be prepared to pursue a career in roles such as a Solicitor, Barrister and In-House Counsel. A law degree may also be suitable if you are seeking a career as an academic, or in business, the public service or politics.

Number of Units Required CQUniversity uses the concept of credits to express the amount of study required for a particular course and individual units. The number of units varies between courses. Units in undergraduate courses normally consist of 6 points of credit or multiples thereof (e.g. 12, 18, 24).
Expected Hours of Study One point of credit is equivalent to an expectation of approximately two hours of student work per week in a term.

Entry Requirements

Entry requirements

Bachelor of Laws degree from CQUniversity or other recognised bachelor's degree in law from a recognised university with a grade point average of 5/7 (75 per cent) in the third level of the Bachelor of Laws course, including a '6' or better level pass in at least one unit.

For a candidate with equivalent qualifications, special permission of the Head of Course for Law on the advice of the relevant Course advisor is required.

Students must be enrolled in the Bachelor of Laws (Honours) course.

English Language Requirements

Domestic students from a non-English speaking background are required to satisfy English Language requirements. This course requires a minimum of IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.
