This unit comprises seven key topics covering the development of Australia's design and construction industry, Government and private sector roles in managing Australian construction industry and emerging trends applied to the construction industry.

Students who do not drop the unit in this timeframe cannot later drop the unit without academic and financial liability. Attendance Requirements

All on-campus students are expected to attend scheduled classes – in some units, these classes are identified as a mandatory (pass/fail) component and attendance is compulsory. International students, on a student visa, must maintain a full time study load and meet both attendance and academic progress requirements in each study period (satisfactory attendance for International students is defined as maintaining at least an 80% attendance record).

Each 6-credit Undergraduate unit at CQUniversity requires an overall time commitment of an average of 12.5 hours of study per week, making a total of 150 hours for the unit.

This is a graded unit: your overall grade will be calculated from the marks or grades for each assessment task, based on the relative weightings shown in the table above. You must obtain an overall mark for the unit of at least 50%, or an overall grade of ‘pass’ in order to pass the unit. If any ‘pass/fail’ tasks are shown in the table above they must also be completed successfully (‘pass’ grade). You must also meet any minimum mark requirements specified for a particular assessment task, as detailed in the ‘assessment task’ section (note that in some instances, the minimum mark for a task may be greater than 50%).

Term 3 - 2020 : The overall satisfaction for students in the last offering of this course was 4.6 (on a 5 point Likert scale), based on a 46.67% response rate.

Feedback, Recommendations and Responses

Every unit is reviewed for enhancement each year. At the most recent review, the following staff and student feedback items were identified and recommendations were made.

The insight into the evaluation of various areas of the construction industry and the topics covered had a decent relation to the assessments. The lecturer clearly explained the requirements of assessment items.
Same delivery strategy is to be maintained.

The unit contained too much assessment. The Learning outcomes of the unit should be assessable with a maximum of four assessment items. I found it very difficult to complete 7 assessments within the 12 weeks and work full time.
Among the seven assessment tasks, two assessment tasks are 5% short online forum posting tasks, another assessment is 5% and only a one-page research proposal. These three assessment tasks are not supposed to be time consuming. However, the issue will be considered in the next delivery whether A2 and A5 can be condensed into one assessment task preserving the intended learning outcomes.
Action Taken
The same assessment structure was followed. The one-page research proposal was kept without changes; however, the word limit was reduced in two forum posts (A1 & A4) and two written tasks (A2 and A5). The review of the assessment task structure of the unit is planned in 2021 and 2022; hence, the changes will be applied to the structure upon the review.

The lecturer's engagement with topics and assessment tasks made the process of understanding assignment tasks easy and efficient.
The same teaching strategy will be applied in the future delivery of the unit.

Research assessment was an excellent way to learn. The reduction of few other assessment tasks would more concentrate on the research assessment.
All forum posts and other assessment tasks are required in achieving the current unit learning outcomes. However, the unit will be reviewed in 2021 and 2022 to check the possibility of an effective unit profile towards improved unit learning outcomes and a productive assessment structure.
