BUSN20024 - Communication for Leadership Success

General Information

Unit Synopsis

This unit introduces you to the communication skills vital to succeeding as a business leader. In an increasingly complex global environment, outstanding leaders are consummate communicators. Sophisticated interpersonal competencies are crucial to leaders achieving outstanding performance. Effective business communication is critical to cultivating optimistic attitudes to problem solving. Creating a positive attitude amongst employees determines how well organisational goals are achieved. Mobilising and energising stakeholders, through the transmission of shared aspirations, impacts on organisations success. In this unit, you will develop the core communication behaviours essential to effectively lead people in a variety of circumstances. This involves effectively coaching, delegating, and initiating organisational change through appropriate feedback. Sophisticated communications promotes commercial benefit for an organisation, particularly in relation to strategic marketing. Successful leaders need to provide clear, timely and accurate information about business concerns. Effective communication by business leaders and employees facilitates the interactive flow of information needed to contribute to achieving organisational goals. Consequently, leaders with well-developed interpersonal skills are in demand, due to their capacity to effectively mobilise and engage employees and colleagues to achieve organisational goals.
