Unit Synopsis

This unit is for students enrolled in postgraduate courses and particularly the Master of Educational Leadership. It is a prerequisite unit to provide essential background for students undertaking research projects or theses/dissertations in education. Research methodologies and some research designs can cross the "boundaries" of different research frameworks or paradigms. The intention of the unit is to alert students to the differing strengths and weaknesses of various research designs and methodologies. Another important thrust of this unit is to convey some of the ethical-political issues that arise in doing research in educational contexts.

Completion of one additional 6 Credit Point unit from the Graduate Certificate or Master of Educational Studies

Important note: Students enrolled in a subsequent unit who failed their pre-requisite unit, should drop the subsequent unit before the census date or within 10 working days of Fail grade notification. Students who do not drop the unit in this timeframe cannot later drop the unit without academic and financial liability.
