Professional Practice 4 provides students with opportunities for full immersion in all aspects of professional practice and critical reflection during a four-week placement in a classroom environment. Students take an active role in self-evaluation processes and actively seek constructive feedback to improve their practice and respond to identified learning needs to improve student outcomes during this placement. Students use the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (Graduate Career Stage) as the basis for monitoring and documenting their professional learning and practice and for the purpose of setting professional learning goals.

Pre-requisite:- Students must have completed all coursework with the exception of EDED14354 and EDFE14020.
In addition, this course has co-requisites. Students must be enrolled in both EDED14354 and EDFE14020 in the same term of study as this course. Important note: Students enrolled in a subsequent unit who failed their pre-requisite unit, should drop the subsequent unit before the census date or within 10 working days of Fail grade notification. Students who do not drop the unit in this timeframe cannot later drop the unit without academic and financial liability. All on-campus students are expected to attend scheduled classes – in some units, these classes are identified as a mandatory (pass/fail) component and attendance is compulsory. International students, on a student visa, must maintain a full time study load and meet both attendance and academic progress requirements in each study period (satisfactory attendance for International students is defined as maintaining at least an 80% attendance record).
Each 6-credit Undergraduate unit at CQUniversity requires an overall time commitment of an average of 12.5 hours of study per week, making a total of 150 hours for the unit.

All focus areas of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (Graduate Level) are demonstrated and assessed during this placement with the exception of focus areas: 1.4, 1.6 and 2.4 which are not included in the assessment indicators as they may not apply to all contexts. However, pre-service teachers who are placed in settings where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander learners or students with disability are members of the class group should demonstrate the knowledge and understanding embedded in these standards to ensure that they cater for all learners.The Information and Reporting Package for Professional Practice 4 outlines the specific assessment indicators that align tasks and activities completed during the placement with the standards.
