ENMM20023 - Introduction to Asset and Maintenance Management

General Information

Unit Synopsis

This course is designed to introduce students to maintenance strategies, philosophies and procedures, including the basic principles of asset management systems. Students will investigate and report on key concepts relating to asset and maintenance management in their organisation. They will analyse causes and develop solutions to asset and maintenance management problems and recognise and apply quality control procedures and quality assurance systems. This course also helps students to develop the multi-literacy skills they will require to be a successful learner.

Important note: Students enrolled in a subsequent unit who failed their pre-requisite unit, should drop the subsequent unit before the census date or within 10 working days of Fail grade notification. Students who do not drop the unit in this timeframe cannot later drop the unit without academic and financial liability. Attendance Requirements

All on-campus students are expected to attend scheduled classes – in some units, these classes are identified as a mandatory (pass/fail) component and attendance is compulsory. International students, on a student visa, must maintain a full time study load and meet both attendance and academic progress requirements in each study period (satisfactory attendance for International students is defined as maintaining at least an 80% attendance record).

Each 6-credit Postgraduate unit at CQUniversity requires an overall time commitment of an average of 12.5 hours of study per week, making a total of 150 hours for the unit.

This is a graded unit: your overall grade will be calculated from the marks or grades for each assessment task, based on the relative weightings shown in the table above. You must obtain an overall mark for the unit of at least 50%, or an overall grade of ‘pass’ in order to pass the unit. If any ‘pass/fail’ tasks are shown in the table above they must also be completed successfully (‘pass’ grade). You must also meet any minimum mark requirements specified for a particular assessment task, as detailed in the ‘assessment task’ section (note that in some instances, the minimum mark for a task may be greater than 50%).

Option of enrolling in only one unit, in the first term of the Graduate certificate to make an easy start and one unit in Term 3 of the year must be explained well before the census date.
Recommendation
Students will be explained the advantages of enrolling in only one unit in the term they start the course, two units in the subsequent term and one unit in Term 3 of the academic year well before the census date. The Student Advisors Team will be informed in advance that new students should not be allowed to enroll in second unit until they specifically ask for it.
Action Taken
Multiple reminders have been given to students regarding enrolling in only one unit during the first lecture class, residential school, and weekly classes, especially if they lack prior university learning experience. The Student Advisory Team has also been advised to continue to encourage students to consider enrolling in only one unit during the first term of the course. It is important for students to be aware that they have the choice to enroll in only one unit, and this message has been reiterated several times to ensure students make an informed decision that aligns with their needs and abilities.

Very good course. The flexibility is a highlight, being able to swap around the lecture times to suit public holidays is great.
