Attendance Requirements

All on-campus students are expected to attend scheduled classes – in some units, these classes are identified as a mandatory (pass/fail) component and attendance is compulsory. International students, on a student visa, must maintain a full time study load and meet both attendance and academic progress requirements in each study period (satisfactory attendance for International students is defined as maintaining at least an 80% attendance record).

Assessment Overview

Recommended Student Time Commitment

Each 6-credit Undergraduate unit at CQUniversity requires an overall time commitment of an average of 12.5 hours of study per week, making a total of 150 hours for the unit.

Assessment Tasks

Assessment Task Weighting
1. Written Assessment 25%
2. Written Assessment 40%
3. Presentation and Written Assessment 25%

Feedback, Recommendations and Responses

Every unit is reviewed for enhancement each year. At the most recent review, the following staff and student feedback items were identified and recommendations were made.

Source: Self-reflection and student feedback via discussion.
Feedback
Some new original studies have been conducted on some topics covered in the practical research projects, making them less novel.
Recommendation
It is recommended that some topics covered in the practical research projects be altered to ensure originality.
Action Taken
Adjustments to research topics were made where possible to ensure the novelty of the projects completed by students.
Source: Self-reflection and student feedback via discussion.
Feedback
The presentation sessions were long and difficult to coordinate due to technical issues.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the presentation sessions be run across more frequent, shorter sessions.
Action Taken
More frequent, but shorter, sessions were scheduled for the presentation assessment.
Source: Discussion with Exercise and Sport Sciences teaching staff
Feedback
Unit content will need to align with current Exercise and Sport Sciences Australia Accreditation Standards given the CG85 Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Sciences course will undergo re-accreditation in 2024.
Recommendation
It is recommended that unit content be reviewed to avoid undue replication with other units and address relevant areas contained in the current Exercise and Sports Science Australia Accreditation Standards.
