Personal, professional and industry factors may create challenges for people who work in the nursing profession. For some people, these challenges can contribute to stress, burnout and may even cause them to leave the profession. The time when nursing graduates move from supervised to independent practice provides opportunities to thrive and grow in demanding professional situations, but can also be stressful. In this unit, you will examine the importance of resilience in nursing and identify strategies to help cope with workplace stress and burnout. You will discover the value and significance of attending to your own personal mental and physical health, self-care and well-being. You will review conflict and change management strategies and their impact on the interdisciplinary team.
