Attendance Requirements

All on-campus students are expected to attend scheduled classes – in some units, these classes are identified as a mandatory (pass/fail) component and attendance is compulsory. International students, on a student visa, must maintain a full time study load and meet both attendance and academic progress requirements in each study period (satisfactory attendance for International students is defined as maintaining at least an 80% attendance record).

Assessment Overview

Recommended Student Time Commitment

Each 6-credit Undergraduate unit at CQUniversity requires an overall time commitment of an average of 12.5 hours of study per week, making a total of 150 hours for the unit.

Feedback, Recommendations and Responses

Every unit is reviewed for enhancement each year. At the most recent review, the following staff and student feedback items were identified and recommendations were made.

Source: SUTE unit comments
Feedback
The residential school was well structured and informative with guest speakers and site visits.
Recommendation
It is recommended that this residential school continues to offer students a range of site visits in diverse work environments and industries in order to provide a breadth of industry safety practices and perspectives.
Action Taken
One of the site visits was conducted at a new location (large enterprise) and students overwhelmingly reported both visits as a positive experience that provided relevant insights on OHS management.
Source: SUTE unit comments report
Feedback
Further strategies to prepare for the workshop inspection within the residential school is suggested in order for students to be organised for the practical site visit.
Recommendation
Enhance and contextualise material (ie. resources and associated assessment task) to assist students in preparing for the activity of conducting a workshop inspection during the residential.
Action Taken
Nil.
