General Information

Unit Synopsis

The unit will be a problem based approach where the students are faced with a range hazards . The students will learn and apply analytic approaches which are contemporary and current. The student will also learn a systems oriented approach which have common principles and therefore can be used by the students after graduation in contemporary employment settings. The learning process, whilst focused on specific hazards are chosen because they represent important issues in occupational health today and in the future. The students will be expected to be able to extend their knowledge of the process to tackle new issues, although these may be issues that the students have not previously dealt with. The treatment of hazards and risk management will include advanced approaches and also will include knowledge of managing risk where a hazard cannot be eliminated. The students will also learn the nature of illness and injury caused by occupational exposure to hazards.
