SPCH13001 - Speech Pathology Skills and Practice 3

General Information

Unit Synopsis

This course will provide supervised practical experience with clients who have communication or swallowing difficulties. Students will develop skills necessary for professional competence. In order to commence in this unit of study, students must have completed all pre-clinical requirements as outlined in the Allied Health Handbook. These requirements must remain current for the duration of this unit of study.

Attendance Requirements

All on-campus students are expected to attend scheduled classes – in some units, these classes are identified as a mandatory (pass/fail) component and attendance is compulsory. International students, on a student visa, must maintain a full time study load and meet both attendance and academic progress requirements in each study period (satisfactory attendance for International students is defined as maintaining at least an 80% attendance record).

The Interprofessional Education component of the unit expanded the students' awareness of the roles of other health professionals and how to work effectively within a team.

It is recommended that students continue to engage in the Interprofessional Education component of the unit alongside students from other health disciplines.

Students participated in Interprofessional Education with students from occupational therapy, professional psychology and clinical psychology.
