About Me

I am a research intensive academic at CQUniversity Australia. My research during the last decade has focused predominantly on: (a) decision support system for performance analysis, (b) property economics and (c) regional development. Significant levels of funding support (over 2.0 million dollar) have been received through the Category-1 and industry sources research grants and consultancy over the last 7 years for projects for which I was/is a CI and/or project leader.

I am the pioneer in Australia in designing and developing non-linear decision support system in accessibility modelling for basic urban service provision that is capable of measuring the performance of accessibility to the services and providing various planning scenarios. Recently I have integrated economic models (e.g., input-output analysis) with planning models (e.g., location analysis) to estimate boom and bust cycles and its impact on regional property market. Also this is the first time in Australia that I developed a framework that can predict cumulative impacts of resources sectors on housing markets.

Over my academic career, I have published 25 journal articles, 10 book chapters, one refereed book, 46 conference papers and about 40 reports for industry and governments. I have been recognised nationally and internationally as one of the most emerging housing and regional development analyst in Australia, who has demonstrated a strong performance record in attracting grants and publishing research results.

Background

I am a planner cum economists with a strong interest in decision theory, property economics, urban and regional economics, and social and economic impact assessment. Over the last ten years, I have started developing an international reputation for my research in the area of housing with particular attention to modelling market volatility and affordability, and multi-objective decision support systems for natural resource management. I hold a number of degrees that include a PhD in Urban and Regional Planning and a Master of Planning Studies from the University of Queensland (UQ), Australia and a Master of Geography and a Bachelor of Geography, Economics and Statistics degree from Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh. Recently I have completed a Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Education (GCTE) from CQUniversity. In the past, I also completed a course on distance education methods from the Toronto University, Canada.

After completing my PhD degree from UQ, I commenced my career as a senior consultant with two planning firms in Brisbane along with a fractional appointment as a sessional Lecturer and Tutor in 20015 and as a Research Officer in 2006 at UQ. In 2008, I started my full time academic career in Australia as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow with CQUniversity, where I successfully completed four Category-1 grant projects. Currently I am working with the School of Business and Law, where the focus of my teaching revolves around property economics, asset management and business research methods.
