Course summary

This is a preparatory qualification which provides a defined and limited range of basic skills and knowledge used in hairdressing salons by individuals who provide assistance with client services. These routine and repetitive tasks are completed under direct supervision and with guidance from hairdressers who manage the client service.

Enrolments are taken throughout the year on a continuous basis until July 2017.

Duration and dates
6 months.

Load
Twelve (12) units must be successfully completed – eight (8) core units and four (4) elective units.

Notes

Classes will be held on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8.30 am - 3.30 pm.
If students are unable to attend all 3 days, students can negotiate a training plan with the teacher.

CQUniversity Rockhampton City

Timing

All students will require stationary and the following hairdressing equipment (please discuss with teacher prior to purchase):

  • 12pk sectioning clips
  • 2 x cutting comb
  • 2 x tail comb
  • Round brushes (thermal) – 1 x 18mm, 1 x 24mm, 1 x 30mm, 1 x 42mm (approx.. measurements)
  • Denman styling brush 7 row
  • Water spray
  • Wide-toothed basin comb
  • Stylist apron
  • Disposable or reusable glove 

All students must wear closed in shoes and be dressed as though they are going to work in a salon.
