Course summary

This is a preparatory qualification which provides a defined and limited range of basic skills and knowledge used in hairdressing salons by individuals who provide assistance with client services. These routine and repetitive tasks are completed under direct supervision and with guidance from hairdressers who manage the client service.

Summary
To successfully complete this course, students must complete a total of 12 units, consisting of:

There are five course intakes for 2018, available in February, April, June, August and October. Classes for each intake will commence on:

  • Monday, 8 October 2018 
Classes will be held on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8.15 am – 3.30 pm.

CQUniversity Mackay City
There is one course intake for 2018, available in April. Classes will commence from Tuesday, 17 April 2018 and will be held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9 am – 3 pm.

CQUniversity Rockhampton City
There are five course intakes for 2018, available in February, April, June, August and October. Classes for each intake will commence on

Summary

On-campus
This course is available to study on-campus at the following locations:

CQUniversity Gladstone City
Classes will commence from Monday, 5 February 2018 and will be held one day per week on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Wednesdays, from 8.15 am – 3.30 pm.

CQUniversity Mackay City
Continuing VETiS students will commence classes from Tuesday, 13 February and will attend weekly on Tuesdays from 9 am – 3 pm.
New VETiS students will commence on Wednesday, 14 February 2018 and will attend weekly on Wednesdays from 9 am – 3 pm.

CQUniversity Rockhampton City
Classes will commence from Monday, 5 February 2018 and will be held one day per week on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Wednesdays from 8.45 am – 4.00 pm.

All classes will be held at the campus Hairdressing Training Salons.

Resource Requirements

In discussion with teaching staff, additional hairdressing equipment and salon resources will be required for this course. These will be purchased at the expense of the student as study progresses throughout the course. Items include:

  • Stationery – pens, notebook etc
  • 12pk sectioning clips
  • 2 x tail comb
  • Round brushes (thermal) – 1 x 18mm, 1 x 24mm, 1 x 30mm, 1 x 42mm (approx.. measurements)
  • Denman styling brush 7 row
  • TangleTeezer
  • Water spray
  • Wide-toothed basin comb
  • 1 x box of Disposable gloves
All students must wear closed in shoes and be dressed as though they are going to work in a salon.
