Course Summary

This course has been superseded and is for Continuing Students only. The new version, Diploma of Crime and Justice will be available in 2018. Through this course you will develop higher learning and knowledge of the criminal and civil justice system, sharpen your research and analytical critical evaluation skills, as well as skills in leadership and management. The intended purpose of this course is to provide participants with appropriate training/knowledge & workplace skills for participants to work as justice professionals in admin, managerial &/or law enforcement capacity in public or private organisations within the justice industry.

VET Student Loan Information

VET Student Loans may be available for eligible students in approved Diploma level qualifications. The loan can be used towards Tuition Fees only and does not cover additional expenses such as textbooks, uniforms, equipment, travel, tools, and accommodation or general living expenses. Loan limits or caps may apply for some eligible courses and where a loan limit is reached for a course, students may be required to pay upfront for any remaining units.

Entry Requirements

It is recommended that participants have completed: - 39292QLD Certificate IV in Justice Studies or 39183QLD Certificate IV in Justice Administration; or - BSB40110 Certificate IV in Legal Services; or - Any Certificate IV from the Business Services Training package; or - The completion of year 12 or equivalent with a sound achievement in English; or - Possess relevant work or life experience in the business or justice fields.

Student Outcomes, Career Opportunities and Occupations

1. Students will receive a Result of Assessment within 21 days of completion of each unit/module or within 21 days of the ‘close of study’ date.
2. Students who successfully complete all required units/modules will receive their qualification and an Academic Statement itemising all units/modules successfully completed.
3. Following receipt of written advice from the student (or teacher) that the student does not intend to complete the full course, the student will be issued with a Statement of Attainment listing all units/modules successfully completed.

This course would suit applicants who wish to be employed with the Queensland Police Service, Justice-related occupation, Corrective services in custodial and support roles, Department of Justice and Attorney General including Courts, Legal offices, Customs service, Security industry in support/administration areas, Private investigations in support/administration areas, Parks and wildlife, Department of Transport, Youth justice roles, Crime and Misconduct Commission in support/administration areas, Community legal centres, other State and Federal Government Departments in compliance and workplace health and safety roles.

Distance students require strong self motivation and must have 4-6 hours per week available for study for each unit. This course is self paced so students must have sound literacy and numeracy skills. This course is delivered by distance education so students must have access to a computer and the internet.
