Course Summary

This qualification provides a vocational outcome in parks and gardens. The parks and gardens industry expects this qualification to be achieved to meet job outcomes at this level. Skills needed to work as a gardener or horticulturist in the parks and gardens industry. Tasks covered include: providing information on plants, controlling weeds, pests and diseases, fertilising and maintaining plants carrying out specialised pruning, planning and setting up plant displays, operating irrigation systems, and maintaining natural and revegetated areas.

Entry Requirements

This course is for apprentices only. Students must be employed as apprentice landscapers or gardeners.

Student Outcomes, Career Opportunities and Occupations

  1. Students will receive a Result of Assessment within 21 days of completion of each unit/module or within 21 days of the ‘close of study’ date.
  2. Students who successfully complete all required units/modules will receive their qualification and an Academic Statement itemising all units/modules successfully completed.
  3. Following receipt of written advice from the student (or teacher) that the student does not intend to complete the full course, the student will be issued with a Statement of Attainment listing all units/modules successfully completed.

Possible employment options include Municipal/city gardener, Horticulturist.
