Course Summary

BHP Operations Services (OS) National Training Program (NTP) will be initially delivered within QLD and WA. This training will occur at BHP OS Mackay training centre where BHP OS will conduct the delivery with compliant Enterprise Trainers under supervision by CQUniversity, and CQUniversity teachers will assess. BHP OS will be responsible for the Micro-credential Courses and BHP OS specific training and assessment and the training only for the Foundation 8 Week Program and remaining units within the Technical Stream, as per the trainee/ apprentice training plan. All parties agree that the quality of training, and support provided to trainees and apprentices, during the training and assessment, will not be compromised, and that the students will be trained and assessed in accordance with the requirements of the training package rules being: The minimum requirements for achievement of the Certificate II in Engineering - Production Technology are: - completion of all of the core units of competency listed below, and - completion of elective units from the list below to the value of at least 50 points. Points associated with prerequisites count towards the total (refer to units for details).

The training package does not include any entry pathways that apply to this qualification. Students must be eligible under the User Choice policy as a trainee.

This qualification covers the skills and knowledge required of workers employed as Engineering/ Manufacturing Employees - Level IV as defined in the Manufacturing and Associated Industries and Occupations Award or in related industries where Engineering/ Manufacturing Employees work.

BHP Operations Services has selected this course for their trainees to be able deploy crews with trades persons to repair onsite equipment.

Delivery Agreement

The training program will be delivered under a third party agreement with BHP Operations Services for their employees who are trainees.

Study Mode Definitions

  • Online: Online courses provide the flexibility to study without normally requiring a student to visit a campus. Course content is studied through a number of means including the use of online discussion forums, electronic library resources, by contacting lecturers and teachers, and receiving study materials online/electronically. Work integrated learning, including placements, may be included in some courses.
  • On-campus: Students studying in on-campus mode typically are expected to attend and participate in regular, structured on-campus teaching and learning activities throughout the University’s academic term. These activities may include lectures, tutorials, workshops and practice, online or other activities and normally will be timetabled at a CQUniversity campus or approved delivery site.
  • Mixed Mode: Students studying in mixed mode will participate in a combination of online learning activities in addition to site-specific learning activities, which may include residential schools, co-op placements and/or work-integrated learning as a compulsory requirement of a unit. The additional site-specific learning activities are what differentiates a mixed-mode unit from an online unit.

Course Assessment Information

RPL - Students who have previous informal and formal learning need to advise their trainer/assessor prior to enrolment. If the student wishes to apply for an RPL they need to apply to the RPL Centre.
Credit transfer - If credit for relevant formal qualifications is sought, then the process will be actioned after the student has enrolled in at least one unit of competency as directed by the relevant trainer/assessor. The Trainer/Assessor will work with the student on their credit transfer application, and provide advice and support as necessary.
