Learn how to work effectively in a laboratory. The course covers performing basic laboratory analysis, maintaining equipment, calibrating test equipment, processing and recording data, communication and teamwork.

Students undertaking this course are required to be working in a laboratory, or must undertake a compulsory, on-campus two week practical block at CQUniversity Mackay Ooralea to satisfy practical components of their course.
Employment outcomes may include laboratory technicians, science technicians, instrument operators and similar personnel.
12 months part-time
Students must complete all Core units.

You will enrol into 1, 2 or 3 units by March this year in order to complete these by June 2019. If you only enrol in two units then please enrol in either cluster below:
CERT 3 MSL30116:
1. MSL973001 - Perform Basic Tests

2. MSL913001 - Communicate with Other People
2. MSL922001 - Record and Present Data
You can enrol in up to three units in order to complete the units by June 2019.
All of the units which you have completed or will be completing with the current training package by June 2019, will be credited to the new training MSL30118. The new training package qualification (MSL30118) will be available from July 2019.
Is what I already know taken into account?
Yes. Your history of study, skills and experience does matter. Consideration is given to your prior life and work experiences as well as formal and informal training. This may be applied using the national standard for Mutual Recognition or through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Documentary evidence will be requested.
