Entry Requirements

Students undertaking this course are required to be working in a laboratory to satisfy practical components of their course. Applicants are encouraged to contact the teaching team prior to applying for this course to ensure they meet the work requirements. Enquiries can be sent to VET-Science-Centre@cqu.edu.au.

Student Outcomes, Career Opportunities and Occupations

1. Students will receive a Result of Assessment within 21 days of completion of each unit/module or within 21 days of the ‘close of study’ date.
2. Students who successfully complete all required units/modules will receive their qualification and an Academic Statement itemising all units/modules successfully completed.
3. Following receipt of written advice from the student (or teacher) that the student does not intend to complete the full course, the student will be issued with a Statement of Attainment listing all units/modules successfully completed.

Employment outcomes targeted by this qualification include laboratory technicians, instrument operators and similar personnel. This course builds on skills and knowledge developed at Certificate III level.

Online

There are two course intakes, available February and July.
18 months full-time or 2 years part-time.
This course is available to study via Online, with teaching support available through email and telephone. Students will require self-motivation and must have 4 – 6 hours per week available for study.

Students are required to be working in a laboratory to complete the practical component of the course. Resources will be emailed to students by teaching staff.

This may be applied using the national standard for Mutual Recognition or through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Documentary evidence will be requested.
