Overview
On successful completion of this unit you will be able to define the role of an Allied Health professional and their scope of practice within the Australian healthcare system. Additionally, this unit will provide you with foundation knowledge about the impact of living with an illness, injury or disability as it relates to physical, emotional and social functioning. You will learn about the pragmatic and emotional adaptation processes involved, and be introduced to the use of an internationally accepted health care model which facilitates participation in wider society.

There are no requisites for this unit.
Important note: Students enrolled in a subsequent unit who failed their pre-requisite unit, should drop the subsequent unit before the census date or within 10 working days of Fail grade notification. Students who do not drop the unit in this timeframe cannot later drop the unit without academic and financial liability. Attendance Requirements
All on-campus students are expected to attend scheduled classes – in some units, these classes are identified as a mandatory (pass/fail) component and attendance is compulsory. International students, on a student visa, must maintain a full time study load and meet both attendance and academic progress requirements in each study period (satisfactory attendance for International students is defined as maintaining at least an 80% attendance record).
Recommended Student Time Commitment
Each 6-credit Undergraduate unit at CQUniversity requires an overall time commitment of an average of 12.5 hours of study per week, making a total of 150 hours for the unit.

Assessment Grading
This is a graded unit: your overall grade will be calculated from the marks or grades for each assessment task, based on the relative weightings shown in the table above. You must obtain an overall mark for the unit of at least 50%, or an overall grade of ‘pass’ in order to pass the unit. If any ‘pass/fail’ tasks are shown in the table above they must also be completed successfully (‘pass’ grade). You must also meet any minimum mark requirements specified for a particular assessment task, as detailed in the ‘assessment task’ section (note that in some instances, the minimum mark for a task may be greater than 50%). Consult the University’s Grades and Results Policy for more details of interim results and final grades.

The 'real world' application of this unit made learning really enjoyable.
It is recommended that the application and integration of 'real world' scenarios continue to be a focus of this unit, as it allows students to see and appreciate the transferability of theory to practice within the Allied Health setting.

Assessment dates were unclear and confusing.
The due dates for the assessment items were unclear as they did not include a specific date or time, only a week. It is recommended that any further due dates include a specific due date, as well as a specific time. Eg - 15th December at 5.00pm AEST (Week 12).

The weekly tutorials were helpful as they aligned with the weekly lecture.
It is recommended that the content of the weekly tutorials continue to align the content being delivered in the relevant weekly lectures, as this helps students to reinforce their knowledge and understanding of the content, whilst also allowing them to seek further clarification around the content in an open discussion environment. The weekly tutorials should also continue to include at least one 'real world' scenario, as this helps to further demonstrate the applicability and relevance of the content being delivered in this unit.

- Choose a case study where you will need to identify and discuss the challenges the client faces,
- Identify and discuss the allied health services involved in the successful care management of the client,
- Identify the members of the multidisciplinary team and explain what role each of these members will play in assisting this client.
- Outline the essential elements of good team work in healthcare

This assessment task, complete with detailed individual feedback, will be returned within 2 weeks from the date of submission.
This assessment will be graded according to the following criteria
