There are four assessment tasks for this unit:

- Practical Assessment Task (Residential School)
- Professional Practice Placement
Each of these assessment tasks are a PASS / FAIL, meaning you are required to pass all tasks to be eligible to pass this unit.
ONLINE CONTENT QUIZZES ASSESSMENT TASK:
Throughout modules 1-7 of this unit, you will be required to complete a total of 16 online content quizzes / activities. As such, some weeks will require you to complete more than one online content quiz. Each of the online content quizzes will be comprised of a mixture of true/false and multiple choice questions and H5P activities, that will assess your knowledge and understanding of the content covered within that week. You will be given unlimited time to compete each quiz, you must be successful within two attempts.
ALL quizzes / assessment activities are due: Tuesday 26th April (Week 7) @ 5:00pm AEST, 2022.
To pass this task, every quiz MUST be answered 100% correctly. You will be given two (2) attempts per quiz to attain the 100% requirement.
You must pass this assessment task to be eligible to pass this unit.
Overview
This unit will enable you to further develop and demonstrate the necessary knowledge and practical skills required of a competent Allied Health Assistant. You will engage in a variety of authentic learning experiences including practical scenarios, case studies and work-integrated learning where you will be supervised by an industry Allied Health professional. Upon successful completion of this unit, you will have developed a portfolio of evidence that illustrates your capacity to operate as an Allied Health Assistant.

Important note: Students enrolled in a subsequent unit who failed their pre-requisite unit, should drop the subsequent unit before the census date or within 10 working days of Fail grade notification. Students who do not drop the unit in this timeframe cannot later drop the unit without academic and financial liability. Attendance Requirements
All on-campus students are expected to attend scheduled classes – in some units, these classes are identified as a mandatory (pass/fail) component and attendance is compulsory. International students, on a student visa, must maintain a full time study load and meet both attendance and academic progress requirements in each study period (satisfactory attendance for International students is defined as maintaining at least an 80% attendance record).

Recommended Student Time Commitment
Each 6-credit Undergraduate unit at CQUniversity requires an overall time commitment of an average of 12.5 hours of study per week, making a total of 150 hours for the unit.

Feedback from Vocational Education Training (VET) Australia
All VET Health qualifications will undergo review, with qualifications likely to see changes in content and assessment requirements.
It is recommended that ALLH staff continue to work collectively with VET to ensure all changes to the Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance are met and implemented.

The residential school experience was really helpful prior to undertaking professional placement practice, as it provided opportunity to build confidence in practical skills.
It is recommended that students continue to be provided with opportunities during the residential school to practice and refine their practical skills, as building their confidence prior to them commencing their professional practice placement is important.

The Portfolio assessment task contains some repetitive questions.
It is recommended that this assessment task be reviewed to ensure that questions are not repetitive. If questions are repetitive, they should be modified and/or removed to limit over assessing of learning outcomes.

This introductory unit is designed to enable you to further develop and demonstrate the necessary knowledge and practical skills required of a competent Allied Health Assistant.
This unit is delivered online, thus there are no weekly scheduled lectures or tutorials.
Unit Structure:
This unit consists of seven (7) content modules.
Whilst these modules are self-paced, they should be completed one after the other and we recommend you complete all modules within the first four (4) weeks of term.
This means that you should be completing two (2) modules per week to stay on track.
The content from the modules will then assist you to complete your Case Study assessment task, which is due beginning of Week 7.
We also strongly encourage you to work on your Case Study assessment task, as you progress throughout each of the modules and that you do not leave your Case Study assessment task until the end.
Assessment Information:
Each assessment task is a MUST pass task. Thus, you must pass ALL assessment tasks to be eligible to pass this unit.
You must pass your Case Study assessment to attend Residential School. You must pass your Practical assessment (conducted during Residential School) and your Simulated Residential Work Booklet task to commence your Professional Practice Placement (Work-Integrated Learning experience).
1 Portfolio
This case study assessment task presents you with a series of clients that you would be required to care for and mange during a typical day as an Allied Health Assistant.
After reading through each client care plan, you will be required to answer questions pertaining to your role as an Allied Health Assistant.
This assessment task draws on content from modules 1-7 of this unit. As such, it would be of benefit to you to complete this assessment task as you work through each of modules content.

Case Study Assessment Task will assess your knowledge and understanding of the following:

- Develop a portfolio of documents relevant for the attainment of the vocational award of Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance.

2 Practical Assessment
You must attend a compulsory three (3) day Residential School where you will be required to demonstrate competency across all VET requirements for the Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance.
You will also be required to complete a workbook (Simulated Residential Competency Booklet) whilst attending Residential School.
Each competency is clearly described in your Simulated Residential Competency Booklet, including a clear description of each task, the task requirements and the criteria sheet to which the task will be assessed against.
Residential School will be held from Tuesday 10th - Thursday 12th May, 2022 (Week 9) at the Rockhampton (North) campus.
You must pass this assessment task (Practical Assessment AND Simulated Residential Competency Booklet) to commence your professional practice placement.
Week 9 Friday (13 May 2022) 5:00 pm AEST
Simulated Residential Competency Booklet should be submitted online, via the ALLH11010 Moodle page.
Feedback will be provided within 1 week of the date of submission.

3 Professional Practice Placement
You must undertake and complete 80 hours of professional practice placement (work-integrated learning) within an approved allied health setting.
You can not commence your professional practice placement until you attend residential school and pass your practical assessment task.
During your time on placement, you will be required to perform typical duties and tasks of a competent allied health assistant, of which your competence will be assessed.
Your Professional Practice Placement should be completed by Friday 17 June 2022
You will also be required to complete your 'Professional Placement Booklet', as a part of this assessment task.
Your professional practice placement requirements and tasks are clearly described in your 'Professional Placement Booklet', including a clear description of placement expectations and requirements, individual task requirements and the criteria sheet to which the tasks will be assessed against.
Your Professional Practice Placement Booklet is due: Wednesday 22 June @ 5:00 pm AEST.
Feedback will be provided within 2 weeks of the date of submission.
Professional Practice Placement will assess your knowledge and understanding of the following:
- Infection prevention and control policies and procedures
- Communicate and work in health or community services
- Maintain a high standard of service
- Assist with movement
- Assist with an allied health program
Your completed Professional Placement Booklet MUST be signed off by your placement supervisor prior to submission.
It is recommended you seek all outstanding comments / feedback and signatures from your placement supervisor BEFORE leaving the site, as past students have found trying to chase up supervisor signatures difficult and time consuming.
