Through advanced studies in acting you will undertake practical studies in various aspects of theatrical performance. You will apply these techniques to various selected classical and contemporary texts. You are expected to demonstrate cumulative levels of skill and knowledge through this series of units.

Important note: Students enrolled in a subsequent unit who failed their pre-requisite unit, should drop the subsequent unit before the census date or within 10 working days of Fail grade notification. Students who do not drop the unit in this timeframe cannot later drop the unit without academic and financial liability. Attendance Requirements
All on-campus students are expected to attend scheduled classes – in some units, these classes are identified as a mandatory (pass/fail) component and attendance is compulsory. International students, on a student visa, must maintain a full time study load and meet both attendance and academic progress requirements in each study period (satisfactory attendance for International students is defined as maintaining at least an 80% attendance record).
Recommended Student Time Commitment
Each 6-credit Undergraduate unit at CQUniversity requires an overall time commitment of an average of 12.5 hours of study per week, making a total of 150 hours for the unit.

Assessment Grading
This is a graded unit: your overall grade will be calculated from the marks or grades for each assessment task, based on the relative weightings shown in the table above. You must obtain an overall mark for the unit of at least 50%, or an overall grade of ‘pass’ in order to pass the unit. If any ‘pass/fail’ tasks are shown in the table above they must also be completed successfully (‘pass’ grade). You must also meet any minimum mark requirements specified for a particular assessment task, as detailed in the ‘assessment task’ section (note that in some instances, the minimum mark for a task may be greater than 50%). Consult the University’s Grades and Results Policy for more details of interim results and final grades.

From week one to five you will be selecting monologues, in consultation with your lecturer to present in an authentic audition setting. Professional practitioners and potential employers could be present on the audition panel. Each monologue will require a different focus and feel. We will discuss the professional requirements for a film/TV audition. In week 5 you will be given a film audition which you will have 48 hours to prepare for. You will also be given your capstone script, and a schedule of rehearsals will be prepared for rehearsing the production.

1 Practical Assessment
You will be required to choose and learn two monologues in consultation with your lecturer. These monologues will potentially be presented to a simulated audition panel, and one will be filmed and submitted. You are required to apply and demonstrate your advanced acting skills and techniques such as script analysis, voice, and stagecraft . You are required to attend at least 90% of scheduled classes and rehearsals via zoom or in studio. If you fall below 90% in attendance you must provide formal evidence for absence as per University policy, or you may be graded as AF (Absent Fail).

2 Practical Assessment
You will be required to rehearse and perform in your capstone production before you graduate. You will apply and demonstrate your developed acting craft of integrated skills including script analysis, voice, stagecraft and acting technique to an advanced level. You will be required to source costume, set and props suitable for the performed work. You will be given rehearsal feedback and direction from your tutor. You are required to attend at least 90% of scheduled classes and rehearsals. If you fall below 90% in attendance you must provide formal evidence for absence as per University policy, or you may be graded as AF (Absent Fail)
