Feedback, Recommendations and Responses
Every unit is reviewed for enhancement each year. At the most recent review, the following staff and student feedback items were identified and recommendations were made.
Feedback from Feedback from Student Evaluations
Students commented that they enjoyed the weekly lectures and the resources on Moodle to enhance learning.
I will continue to provide weekly lecture and maintain the level of additional learning resources. Other improvements for the NURS13133 Moodle site for 2018 is the inclusion of: * Moodle activities books in each unit module. * Moodle activity lessons for application theory to practice * Test your knowledge section for self assessment.
Feedback from Feedback from Student Evaluations
Many student expressed that summative quiz was a useful tool in assessing student's critical thinking and knowledge of practice.
I will continue to provide a summative critical thinking quiz assessment at end of term unless otherwise advised by the Head of Course.
Feedback from Staff Feedback and self-reflection
Students commented that the Residential School was informative, well organised and time was provided to allow students to ask questions.
Residential School learning content will be revised and will now include a simulated patient experience.
Feedback from Feedback from Student Evaluation
Students commented that set due dates for assessments are ideal rather than rolling due dates that are linked to their clinical placement allocation.
Assessment task will be revised and written with more clarity and succinctness with set due dates that are not linked to students clinical placement allocation..

IN ADDITION: Self-directed preparation for the Online Calculation Test or Case Study can be achieved by accessing the online Medsafe portal: http://intellilearn.e3learning.com.au/
You will be required to achieve 100% in an online medication administration quiz during your on-campus clinical learning session on the first day of your residential school or internal classes. If you score less than 100% on your first attempt, you will be provided with an additional two (2) opportunities to achieve a Pass. The second attempt will be before completing your residential school or your final clinical learning session. The third attempt will be required to be completed by the Thursday before your scheduled clinical placement. If you are not successful on this third attempt, you will not be able to proceed to clinical placement and will receive a Fail grade for NURS13133 unit.
Part 2: Practical Assessment of clinical skills.
This assessment will be a simulation assessment activity focusing on your clinical abilities and safe nursing practice. You will be allowed 10 minutes to complete this section of the assessment. You will be required to demonstrate your ability in a number of clinical skills while at the NURS13133 Clinical Nursing Practice 4 on-campus learning sessions. This assessment will take the form of clinical skills assessments within a simulation assessment activity along with a written component about the care you provided.

3 Professional Practice Placement
The Clinical Placement ANSAT Tool requires the completion of clinical components. A total of 160 hours of clinical placement is required for this unit where you will demonstrate your ability to perform the nursing role within your scope of practice as measured against the NMBA Registered Nurse Standards for Practice. You must meet both academic and professional requirements at all times while undertaking your nursing studies.
If your progress is deemed to be unsatisfactory at any time during this clinical placement unit as per Assessment Policy and Procedure (Higher Education Coursework) and the Work Integrated Learning Student Placement Policy and Procedure, you will not be eligible for a supplementary assessment and will receive a FAIL grade for NURS13133 Clinical Nursing Practice 4.
You are required to submit your completed Clinical Placement ANSAT Tool and time sheet within seven (7) days of your final placement date.
Clinical Placement ANSAT Tool results will be uploaded on Moodle within 21 days of submission of the documentation to the unit Moodle site. In accordance with policy: any marks and/or grades for assessments released to students prior to Certification of Grades are provisional, and are subject to moderation and confirmation through the relevant Program and Divisional Assessment Committees. No examination marks will be released unit after the process of moderation and certification of grades. All confirmed assessments marks, including final assessment and examination marks, will be made available to students after final grades have been published.
The Clinical Placement ANSAT Tool has been designed to enable you to demonstrate the development of professional attributes required by the Registered Nurse. The criteria in the Clinical Placement ANSAT Tool is based on the NMBA Registered Nurse Standards for Practice. This criterion will be used to evaluate your ability to perform your nursing role within your scope of practice and to determine your ability to meet the NMBA Registered Nurse Standards for Practice as per your current year level. For example, as you are a year 3 student it is expected that you will perform within the scope of practice of a year 3 nursing student and demonstrate critical thinking, problem-solving and clinical skills applicable to a year 3 nursing student.
Assessment criteria and performance standards for the Clinical Placement ANSAT Tool includes:
- completion of the required hours of clinical placement as stipulated by the relevant unit coordinator;
- a self-assessment of your own clinical performance against the NMBA Registered Nurse Standards for Practice at both formative and summative stages of the clinical placement; and
- assessment and recording of your performance by the identified preceptor/clinical facilitator at both formative and summative stages of the clinical placement.
Further information on the assessment criteria is outlined in the Clinical Placement ANSAT tool and is available on the WIL Moodle site.
If you are identified as not achieving the required standards or competency for your year level, the unit coordinator in consultation with the student and clinical facilitator/preceptor will discuss student requirements for further clinical support.
Please see the CQUniversity Suitability for Clinical Placement policy on the Clinical Placement Moodle site for further information.
Students who have failed to maintain satisfactory attendance and/or failed to complete a satisfactory standard in academic or professional components specified for the placement or who have failed to maintain an appropriate standard of conduct will receive a FAIL grade for this assessment. This means that you will be removed from clinical placement and will receive a FAIL grade for NURS13133. Please refer to the Work-Integrated Learning / Student Placement Policy for further information.
NOTE: It is important you refer to the Clinical Placement ANSAT Tool prior to and throughout your clinical placement.

As a CQUniversity student you are expected to act honestly in all aspects of your academic work.
Any assessable work undertaken or submitted for review or assessment must be your own work. Assessable work is any type of work you do to meet the assessment requirements in the unit, including draft work submitted for review and feedback and final work to be assessed.
When you use the ideas, words or data of others in your assessment, you must thoroughly and clearly acknowledge the source of this information by using the correct referencing style for your unit. Using others’ work without proper acknowledgement may be considered a form of intellectual dishonesty.
Participating honestly, respectfully, responsibly, and fairly in your university study ensures the CQUniversity qualification you earn will be valued as a true indication of your individual academic achievement and will continue to receive the respect and recognition it deserves.
As a student, you are responsible for reading and following CQUniversity’s policies, including the Student Academic Integrity Policy and Procedure. This policy sets out CQUniversity’s expectations of you to act with integrity, examples of academic integrity breaches to avoid, the processes used to address alleged breaches of academic integrity, and potential penalties.
What is a breach of academic integrity?
A breach of academic integrity includes but is not limited to plagiarism, self-plagiarism, collusion, cheating, contract cheating, and academic misconduct. The Student Academic Integrity Policy and Procedure defines what these terms mean and gives examples.
Why is academic integrity important?
A breach of academic integrity may result in one or more penalties, including suspension or even expulsion from the University. It can also have negative implications for student visas and future enrolment at CQUniversity or elsewhere. Students who engage in contract cheating also risk being blackmailed by contract cheating services.
Where can I get assistance?
For academic advice and guidance, the Academic Learning Centre (ALC) can support you in becoming confident in completing assessments with integrity and of high standard.
