Overview
This unit is design to ensure you have the theoretical knowledge to work effectively as a community nutritionist /dietitian. You will begin by reflecting on your own culture and beliefs and how they may influence your future practice. You will then look at recognised frameworks and explicitly learn how to work responsively and effectively as a team member, exploring the roles and responsibilities of different members, including First Nation's partners, within an inter-professional team. Next, you will explore digital communication platforms and how to communicate effectively with people from culturally and geographically diverse backgrounds. Finally, you will apply the main models of behaviour change theory to plan, deliver and evaluate communication and culturally safe education programs aimed at improving the dietary intake of groups and communities.

Pre-requisites or Co-requisites
Pre-requisite: Enrolment into CL88 Master of Nutrition and Dietetics OR enrolment with completion of 120 cp into one of CG93 Pre-Dietetics or Clinical Nutrition majors, CM60 Clinical Nutrition or CM61 Bachelor of Nutrition/Master of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Important note: Students enrolled in a subsequent unit who failed their pre-requisite unit, should drop the subsequent unit before the census date or within 10 working days of Fail grade notification. Students who do not drop the unit in this timeframe cannot later drop the unit without academic and financial liability. Attendance Requirements
All on-campus students are expected to attend scheduled classes - in some units, these classes are identified as a mandatory (pass/fail) component and attendance is compulsory. International students, on a student visa, must maintain a full time study load and meet both attendance and academic progress requirements in each study period (satisfactory attendance for International students is defined as maintaining at least an 80% attendance record).
