CV84 Master of Project Management

In order to complete this course, you must:

  1. Complete the core structure
  2. Complete 1 minor
  3. Complete electives

Core Structure

Number of units: 11 Total credit points: 72

Students are required to complete one of the following three streams: Practicum, Internship or Research.

Some units are offered in Term 3 to help students complete the course earlier, particularly for those students intending to take the internship stream. Students are strongly advised to consult course advisers at the beginning of each term regarding the units they intend to take to ensure they can complete the course within the shortest possible time.

Students should note that they may be required to enrol in some units online.

PPMP20012 Program and Portfolio Management Information Systems
PPMP20015 Research in Project Management

Practicum Stream

If you choose this option, you will apply your knowledge gained over your course of study in a simulated environment.

To complete this stream, you can enrol yourself into your discipline practicum unit - PPMP20018 Project Management Practicum. This unit is taken in the last term of study and you can also complete two elective units in this same term.

Practicum stream students must complete the following compulsory units:

Research Stream

To be eligible for this stream you must have achieved a minimum overall score of 75% in PPMP20015 Research in Project Management and an overall GPA of 5.75 by the end of your first year of study

AND

Complete the research unit where you apply your research knowledge from the previous units in this stream.

To complete this stream you can enrol yourself into your discipline research unit - PPMP20016 Research Project 2 after completing the mandated prerequisites PPMP20015 and PPMP20019.

If you complete this stream you may be eligible to enrol in a PhD.

Year 2 - Term 2
Students must complete the following compulsory units:
PPMP20016 Research Project 2

Internship Stream 

To be eligible for this stream you must pass all of your units at the first attempt, apply for the internship, and undergo a series of interviews with prospective host organisations. Generally, internship students will spend 32 hours per week for 10 consecutive weeks with the internship host organisation applying the knowledge you have gained over the course of your study before returning to campus for the presentation of your learning journey.

Assessments will need to be completed throughout the term. The internship is taken in the last term of study, and to assist internship students in completing all units before the last study term, some units are offered in all three teaching terms. You are strongly advised to consult course advisers at the beginning of each term regarding the units you intend to take to ensure you can complete the course within the shortest possible time.

If you choose this option, you will be enrolled in the unit PPMP20017 Project Management Internship once you have secured a host organisation.

Hospital and Health Services Management Minor

Number of units: 4 Total credit points: 24

Students that take HHSM20001, HHSM20002, HHSM20003, and HHSM20004 are eligible for the 'Hospital and Health Services Management' minor.

Students that take COIT20248, COIT20249, COIT20245, and PPMP20007 are eligible for the 'Information Systems' minor.

If you select this minor you will need to select an additional unit from the recommended elective list as PPMP20007 (that is part of this minor) is already a core unit in CV84.

If you are on a campus where your choice of electives is not offered, you will need to study some units online.

Students have to complete four elective units from the recommended electives list below. Alternatively, students can opt for a MINOR by completing the respective units within that MINOR, should they opt to have another qualification that is more aligned with their career goals and needs. However, students have the discretion to choose individual units from any course offered within CQUniversity provided they meet the prerequisite requirements of that unit in order to make up the 24 credit points of electives needed to complete the degree.
