Course Overview

This program provides you with opportunities to study a broad range of topics relating to aspects of organisational management.  You will develop the creative, analytical and interpersonal capabilities crucial for successful business leadership. The Graduate Diploma of Business Administration allows articulation into the Master of Business Administration (MBA) or the Master of Management for Engineers (MMgtEng) depending on your previous work experience and study.

The CQUniversity Graduate Diploma of Business Administration provides students with opportunities to study contemporary management practices. Graduates from this course target employment in the areas of business consultation, or middle to high level business management.

Number of Units Required CQUniversity uses the concept of credits to express the amount of study required for a particular course and individual units. The number of units varies between courses. Units in postgraduate courses normally consist of 6 points of credit or multiples thereof (e.g. 12, 18, 24).
Expected Hours of Study One point of credit is equivalent to an expectation of approximately two hours of student work per week in a term.

Entry Requirements
  • a completed bachelor degree in any discipline from an Australian university or college, or equivalent, or
  • a completed CQU Graduate Certificate in Business Administration or equivalent, may enrol in this program.

Advanced Standing (Credit for Prior Learning):

Students may be eligible for exemptions of up to 24 credit points for previously completed graduate certificate level studies in business or an honours degree in business. 

NOTE:
International English Language (IELTS Academic) Overall band score of 6.5 (with no individual band score of less than 6.0) will be required for students seeking entry to the MBA.

More Details

A limited range of postgraduate units are offered at Mackay as part of a course of management education aimed at practicing supervisors and managers in the region. The local initiative is designed to allow students to enrol in the Graduate Certificate in Business Administration with the aim to progress through the Graduate Diploma of Business Administration and eventually the Masters of Business Administration. The selected postgraduate units are taught face to face in a blended learning environment that utilises four intensive workshops of four hours duration during the term in association with the various learning and teaching processes available online for the unit in question.

NOTE: The articulation pathway from GC Business Admin or GD Business Admin to MBA without work experience will only exist for T1 and T2 2015.

Managerial or professional work experience must have included direct, personal involvement in decision-making responsibility in a range of areas such as budgeting, staffing, project management, financial management process management, or other relevant professional experience.
