Feedback, Recommendations and Responses

Every unit is reviewed for enhancement each year. At the most recent review, the following staff and student feedback items were identified and recommendations were made.

Source: 'Have your Say' survey
Feedback
Students found the regular communication with the lecturer via Moodle, email, and during class, as well as touching base with their research supervisor, was beneficial to their learning and progress in this unit.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the unit coordinator and/or lecturer remain proactive in their communication with students, and that students remain encouraged to contact the lecturer for support with their research via multiple means. It is also recommended that research supervisors remain available to meet with students and schedule times to assist students with their research throughout the term.
Action Taken
The unit coordinator encouraged and welcomed communication via Moodle forums, email, and during tutorial sessions. Respectful and time-managed communications were also encouraged between student and supervisors.

Feedback
Students highlighted the need for feedback to be clear and constructive, and applicable to future work.
Recommendation
It is recommended that time is allocated within tutorials for students to discuss any questions about their feedback with their lecturer, with the aim of ensuring that feedback can be applied to the student's subsequent work.
Action Taken
'Open-floor' discussions regarding feedback and other questions were regularly encouraged during tutorial sessions. For those unable to attend the live tutorials, tutorial recordings were made available so they may gain from such discussions. Email communications were also offered as a form of feedback, where appropriate. 'Big picture implications' were a predominant focus of these communications to reflect the relevance and applicability for this dual-course cohort.
Source: 'SUTE' survey
Feedback
Students highlighted the benefit of being able to discuss ideas, questions, feedback, and translation of skills within a supportive environment.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the Moodle forums and weekly tutorials continue to offer a supportive discussion space in which both unit coordinator/lecturer and students can share constructive ideas, questions, suggestions, and feedback as a group.
Action Taken
