BUSN20029 - International Business Law

General Information

Unit Synopsis

This unit provides a comprehensive examination of international business law, with a focus on the legal rules that govern cross-border trade. You will study both legal and practical aspects of contracts for the international sale of goods (CISG); the international carriage of goods; dispute resolution and enforcement of judgements; and the structure, procedures, and role of the World Trade Organization (WTO). By working through hypothetical problems, you will apply international rules and case law to provide informed advice to clients in resolving commercial disputes. The unit also introduces traditional aspects of international legal practice and engagement, highlighting the relevance of international law in contemporary business. Grasping this area of business is important for those seeking a contemporary understanding of the practice and significance of international law.
