Unit Synopsis
In this unit, you will explore problems that require technological solutions, as systems analysis involves determining what a system needs to accomplish. This unit covers concepts such as systems feasibility, requirements elicitation, and systems modelling. You will learn to distinguish and analyse user and system requirements, and to select and plan the process for guiding the system through each stage of the system development life cycle.

Attendance Requirements
All on-campus students are expected to attend scheduled classes - in some units, these classes are identified as a mandatory (pass/fail) component and attendance is compulsory. International students, on a student visa, must maintain a full time study load and meet both attendance and academic progress requirements in each study period (satisfactory attendance for International students is defined as maintaining at least an 80% attendance record).
Recommended Student Time Commitment
Each 6-credit Undergraduate unit at CQUniversity requires an overall time commitment of an average of 12.5 hours of study per week, making a total of 150 hours for the unit.

This is a graded unit: your overall grade will be calculated from the marks or grades for each assessment task, based on the relative weightings shown in the table above. You must obtain an overall mark for the unit of at least 50%, or an overall grade of ‘pass’ in order to pass the unit. If any ‘pass/fail’ tasks are shown in the table above they must also be completed successfully (‘pass’ grade). You must also meet any minimum mark requirements specified for a particular assessment task, as detailed in the ‘assessment task’ section (note that in some instances, the minimum mark for a task may be greater than 50%).

Concerns were raised about the risk of GenAI misuse and unclear assessment expectations.
Revise the assessment structure to incorporate a contextualised business case and an invigilated examination to reinforce academic integrity.
In the Unit Profile, clear instructions have been provided on how to use GenAI and whether it is permitted in assessments. Academic integrity has been reinforced through both the business case study and the invigilated exam.

Tutorial material does not incorporate enough practical and hands-on exercises for students in order to help them better understand the concepts and the theory in the unit.
In the tutorial, more engaging and hands-on questions and activities should be incorporated and assigned to students, in order for them to further understand the concepts in the lectures.

- Explain systems analysis concepts, tools, techniques, and methodologies
- Select and plan appropriate models, tools, techniques, and methodologies of a systems development project
- Apply information gathering techniques to derive system functionalities
- Develop modelling diagrams to depict system functionalities for user requirements
- Apply appropriate software testing/deployment techniques.
The Australian Computer Society (ACS) recognises the Skills Framework for the Information Age (SFIA). SFIA is adopted by organisations, governments and individuals in many countries and provides a widely used and consistent definition of ICT skills. SFIA is increasingly being used when developing job descriptions and role profiles. ACS members can use the tool MySFIA to build a skills profile.
