Unit Synopsis
This final unit reinforces the theoretical and previous clinical units and ensures that, upon entry to the profession, students are well grounded in general radiography, as well as in special procedures, and have a comprehensive understanding of alternative imaging modalities. The professional performance of students will also be reinforced at the highest possible standard and they will be expected to work autonomously as far as their student licence allows. Continuing professional development, research and reflective practice will be reinforced. Students who successfully complete this unit will be professionally competent and eligible to become an accredited practitioner.

Pre-requisite: MEDI14002 Medical Imaging Clinical Course 4 OR MEDI14006 Medical Imaging Clinical Placement 4 AND MEDI14001 Medical Imaging Independent Clinical Project Important note: Students enrolled in a subsequent unit who failed their pre-requisite unit, should drop the subsequent unit before the census date or within 10 working days of Fail grade notification. Students who do not drop the unit in this timeframe cannot later drop the unit without academic and financial liability. Attendance Requirements
All on-campus students are expected to attend scheduled classes - in some units, these classes are identified as a mandatory (pass/fail) component and attendance is compulsory. International students, on a student visa, must maintain a full time study load and meet both attendance and academic progress requirements in each study period (satisfactory attendance for International students is defined as maintaining at least an 80% attendance record).
Recommended Student Time Commitment
Each 24-credit Undergraduate unit at CQUniversity requires an overall time commitment of an average of 50 hours of study per week, making a total of 600 hours for the unit.

Every unit is reviewed for enhancement each year. At the most recent review, the following staff and student feedback items were identified and recommendations were made.

With increasing student numbers within the CG92 course, it was identified that if Magnetic Resonance Imaging was considered an assessable modality in the Holistic Assessment in Other Procedure Area, this would provide more clinical placement site availabilities, hence supporting student success.
Investigate the addition of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) modality in the Holistic Assessment in Other Procedure Area.
This has been implemented in 2025.

Students may benefit from clear guidance on the study leave days available to them during their allocated clinical placement, helping them manage unit submission requirements effectively.
Consider providing more details within the UP around attendance. Explain what and how to use the allocated study leave days during their placement time so that rostering and timetabling of assessment tasks can be facilitated appropriately. Make sure that this information is likewise conveyed to supervisors through the WIL office to avoid unnecessary confusion.
